PA:OtR-sPoD4 (that's what I'm calling it) is the direct sequel to a similar game released a while ago that I also had a giveaway for. Essentially, it's a traditional RPG with the style and humor of Penny Arcade. There are several big differences, but the core concept is similar:

*There are no "classes." Instead, you assign trainers/owners to the collectible beasties you use in battle. The owners don't provide QUITE as significant a playstyle change as the old class system, but the real variety is in your options for Poke-hellspawn and the equipment you allocate to them.
*The game is very VERY VERY DIFFICULT on the highest two difficulties. You can't do much in the way of grinding, and every battle is a race to cheat the turn timer while exploiting elemental weaknesses and a million other little intricacies. Mash "confirm" repeatedly is not a valid strategy on Hard.
*Unlike PA3, this game is very directly linked to its predecessor, and there are spoilers for the story of that game at the start of this one. However, it's not necessary to play PA3 to fully enjoy the game.

I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys both humorous writing (examine everything, you won't be disappointed) and the experience of a story driven JRPG.

RULES OF ENTRY:

*To enter this giveaway, post a Haiku (optionally humorous) about RPGs in general. It could be about a specific game, a specific game element, an experience you had, or something as simple as nerd rage against grinding. For example:

RPGs are great
For lonely people who like
Single player games

The other rules for this giveaway are as follows:

*I will be ending the giveaway approximately eight hours from this post. That's 1AM EST on August 1 for anyone interested.
*Copies are on Steam. I will PM you if you win, and you will have the option of receiving it through your steam account or your e-mail address.
*Random.org will be used to select the two winners.
*Your bay12forums.com account must have been registered before July 1st, 2013 and must not have been used primarily for entering giveaways.

I make rules like these
Not to constrain Bay-twelve-ers
But prevent abuse

Role-Playing Drains Stress
Like fighting Sephiroth Naked
It's only pain afterwards

humorous enough?

“Well,” he said. “We’re in the Forgotten hunting grounds I take it. Your screams just woke them up early. Congratulations, Lyara.”
“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.
“There, I did something. I clapped. I like clapping,” he said. -The Investigator And The Case Of The Missing Brain.

Yes. No. You got too many syllables. It's 5-7-5.

Optionally, if you're feeling brave, you may attempt a limerick instead.

Though far too often linear
I still find them superior
To other games that look the same
And play all-too-familiar

(Understood)
I call this...the Power-Gamer's creed.

Grinding is my life
rolling characters to bash
the DM's efforts

Techno-babbling,
Enchanting thy machines.
Behold, Magi-tek.

Sleepin' in an inn.
I gain a level, "same" day
Time is lateral.

End of times can wait;
Spent my days breeding things;
Golden Chocobo.

Evil Overlord,
Many mook deaths; Unrest.
Take a hint from us.

Elbereth, save me
Holy word down on the ground
I engrave you now.

(For those who haven't played Nethack, one of the early survival techniques is 'E'ngraving the name of Elbereth onto the floor, at which point the majority of enemies will be too afraid to attack you in melee.)

To exist or not exist, that is the query. For whether it is more optimal of the CPU to endure the viruses and spam of outragous fortune, or to something something something.

Devil in the flesh,
Paid his dues, unusually.
Offered bums fresh water.

(Fallout 3 is odd that way)

Godslayers, are we.
Feared among astral plane;
Kills via beach ball.

(A good summary of Final Fantasy X. Fucking hell, Wakka. How did you kill a god with a fucking beach ball? (even though Blitzballs are pretty much underwater medicine balls, but still.))

Best healer ever,
Spared until final fight;
Megaelixer

Nightmares everywhere,
Beatdowns by million lashings.
That all, Dracula?

Some call it a waste;
Spent countless hours grinding;
Fame earned the Corsair.

(Ah, Infinite Space. Where being famous enough nabs you the Pirate King's battleship, and he doesn't care that he ranks #2 now; nor the fact that there's now an army of (up to 9, 5 in a fleet) replicas of his custom ship.)

I procrastinate
On this rain-slick precipice
And not make wizards

...God damn that is a shitty haiku. Lemme try again:

Killing all these mooks
Waiting for that random drop
RNG hates me
