Okay, so my uncle decided to gift me a new computer, despite my protests. Its a "Lenovo H430" with 2.9 ghz, 1 Terrabyte Hardrive, 4 GB Ram, Integrated Graphics Card, and Windows 8 OS. I'm hardly a computer expert, like a lot of you guys here, but from what I know and what I have read about this model, its pretty crummy. So my question is what am I going to do with a computer that wasn't even worth taking out of the box?

It's not top of the line, but that's a fine computer. Personally, I'd use to expirement with different operating systems and screw with bios. You could use it as a backup, or server or something, probably. Or give it to someone else. I'd happily take it.  ;D

Use it to look stuff up online/play videos while you're gaming.

Mine bitcoins very slowly with it.

Run a bot from it to spam PMs offering Bathroom Fixtures to bots offering Kitchen Appliances.

Wear it as a hat.

It's a better computer than I have. Be appreciative, or, like some have said, pass it on. I'll take it.

Better than my computer. Play pretty much any game from 2008 or before with it. Recommendations: X-COM, Warcraft III, Civ 4, countless other games.

Find some cousin or friend of yours that has a crummy computer and give it to them.

If you don't want it, mail it to me. I'd love to have another computer.

Geez you're kind of demanding and ungrateful.  Looking up the specs, it's not too bad at all.  To fix up the limitations: attach a better keyboard and maybe mouse.   You may want to reload the OS to get rid of the bloatware (and it's good practice for loading an OS).   If you're at all worried, back up the existing hard drive.   It's fine as is for desktop office stuff, web browsing, and light gaming.  If you want to run more demanding games you can buy a graphics card for it.

Its not that I''m ungrateful for it, its the thought that counts. But there really isn't anything I could do with the computer in question that I couldn't do with the computer I'm using right now. The only outstanding difference about it is the 1 terabyte hard drive ,slightly better CPU, and Windows 8. I don't really know anyone in serious need of a new computer. So I'm just kind of stuck with a fairly expensive gift that I don't know what to do with and would feel guilty about just leaving to rot.

whoa i wouldn't be the first one to ask for it to be sent to me well you can make an actual giveaway right now or just hand it over to a friend (wink nudge smack) or use it as a paperweight like in these silly anecdotes about ceos and the things they use as paperweights or of course put a bangin' donk on it

or just install it in your car and become x-zibit

I have a similar model, but its 2.7 GHz and I bought a new graphics card for it. It's a damn fine machine, I've never had any significant performance issues with it, even running games like Battlefield 3.

Maybe you could take the parts from the gifted computer that are better then your current computer and switch them out? Also, it is possible to hook up a second hard drive to your computer, but I forget how to do that.

What was the context of the gift? why did your uncle buy it for yo? Does he do that kind of thing occasionally? What kind of relationship is there between you and your uncle?

I don't know. One day he just asked me if I wanted an Iphone or Ipad. I said no. He asked me was there anything i wanted. I said no,but he kept pressing the question so I kinda of joked and said i wanted a new desktop. I thought it was ludicrous enough to get him to back off, but here we are. As for relationship, not much of one. He calls in from time to time. He likes to come down and visit my grandmother, nothing notable.

Card? I know a guy who could help me swap some parts out.
