Current Aliens
Alien species: Ood. A peaceful race (-1 combat rolls), capable of near-instantatious communication between members of the species via non-verbal cues (body language, odors, subsonic sounds, etc.) (+1 to rolls requiring coordinated efforts). Amongst the other races, the Ood have some difficulty making their meaning known (-1 interspecies communication).
The Ood on the station were sent by the Oot collective to the station to work amongst the races. They have found various normal jobs around the station, and are a relatively common sight. They are primarily found in Habitation Ring Gamma, within the ~1 G levels, though their jobs take them many places.
Alien individual: Ood 2 Delta 3, 57, Head Waiter. 2 Delta 3 has been working in Cafeteria Gamma 7 For Some time, and know the ins and outs of food preparation and distribution as well as any on the ship. (+1 interspecies biology). It also has developed a knack for interacting with the various races (+1 social skills).
Inventory - 1 personal translation device. 1 tuxedo.
In tow - a small crowd of small furry aliens with apparently no sense of personal possesions
Species: Micronoid Aggregate. The bacteria known as Micronoids are highly evolved psionic beings, capable of ruling entire civilizations (+1 Politics). Unfortunately, their psionic capabilities extend only to other Micronoids. They generally move about as puddles of slime. They subsist off of grime and dirt on surfaces.
Individual: Joseph Greene, deck swabber (+1 basic station maintenance and navigation) relative human age 17. A refugee from one of the several wars the Aggregate has been involved in over the years, Joseph Greene arrived as a mere drip, along with a small colony of fellow puddles, who had managed to get off-planet on an old freighter, and found themselves mixed in with a shipment of supplies headed for the station. Jospeh takes odd jobs when necessary, and finds himself in high demand for his ability to clean surfaces (interior of the station only - no spacewalk capability w/o environmental suit).
Inventory - 1 EVA suit.
Alien Species: the Formers. They are a collective formed of beings superficially similar to terrestrial fungi (+1 rolls requiring collective intraspecies effort), although they are altogether more animate. Though they do possess a minimal sense of individuality, it has a tendency to come and go, and they have a tendency to both ramble and grow extremely distant in conversation. Their intelligence is very limited, and they are simple-minded and naive, as well as generally unfamiliar with conversational etiquette (-1 interspecies communication, -1 technology / knowledge skills). They are, however, extremely competent at selective, targeted breeding (with efficiencies approaching, frequently surpassing genetic modification techniques - this requires several years for planning, preperation, and generations of breeding. However, several stock variations are common, and act as a base for more specialized needs) and forming their own climate, which typically is in the 500-600 degrees Kelvin range (their peculiar physiology is adapted to such a temperature, although lower temperatures are also survivable for them, albeit with great difficulty) (+1 species maintenance needs - high temperature) and filled with various unusual gases, including nitrogen monoxide in fairly large quantities. Though eccentric, they are valued for their ability to rapidly create lifeforms for varied uses, most frequently nutrition and atmosphere calibration (+1 life support systems). The Formers are an official part of the station crew (+1 status).
Alien Individual: Breeding Supervisor Keffit-Fum, the Former that receives orders from the station administrative staff, and the voice of the Formers in most matters. He dwells along with his kin near the engineering section, a closed-off part of the station that is optimized for Former habitation and thus rather unsuitable for most other lifeforms. This is located near the central axis of the Station, from which heat and light radiate. This section of the station is low gravity, due to the lower rotational speed of the inner sections (-1 gravity related issues). They are in charge of providing food for the rest of the crew and minimal climate control duties, and are always available to one degree or another to fulfill the needs of their fellow crewmen.
Species: Concentrus Mammarius, A four armed, six legged lanky mammalian race that have evolved to process multiple streams of information quickly and efficiently (+1 multitasking, +1 communications systems), due to their excess of limbs. As such they tend to be able to focus on many separate tasks at once without affecting their overall performance. They also have a very loving and supporting nature, - and their culture supports close interaction between all members of society, intermixing family groups (+1 mental health. -1 to rolls when separated from their own kind, - 2 when alone). As such they have a tendency to not appreciate other races' personal space and are often violating other cultural "boundaries" unintentionally (-1 interspecies social skill). For example, it is not unheard of for one to attempt to breastfeed a child of another race, often to it's parents horror (-1 interspecies biology).
Individual: Th'thix Ar'Arus, a male of the species with a typical unfit (-1 physical rolls) build. He acts as the Primary Docking Officer, and also as an Outgoing Communications Officer. As such, he is an official part of the Station crew. (+1 status)
One main datapad. One backup pad (1 week out of date) One lunch.
Alien species: Zlork. A race made up of many tiny flying lifeforms controlled by a core in the middle of their body (-3 strength [I was wondering if I'd get to use that number]). They generally take a humanoid form. Each miniature life-form cannot be farther than one inch of another, or three feet from the core. doing so will cause the creature to no longer be told to breathe, and will die quickly. The Zlork are quite intelligent (+1 uuuummmmmmmmm .... I'll figure out what attribute this gives a bonus to later), and tend to be mechanics (+1 machinery).
Alien individual: 216 years (Midlife for a Zlork), and Head of Mechanics. He was exiled (-1 status) by the Zlork for setting fire to the Queen's Palace. As for a name, he doesn't really have a name. Many just call him "That one bee guy" due to his composition and the noise said composition makes. He quite likes setting fire to, blowing up, and generally absolutely destroying anything he can (-2 impulse control-flames and breakage). Don't leave him with your children, unless you want to suddenly stop being a parent. B1Gii is currently assigned to an asteroid mining ship as Chief Mechanic and Targeting Officer. He is also incarcerated (-2 freedom of action) on said ship for vandalism and reckless destruction. Security keeps a close watch on him, as his skill set and general character combine to make him extremely dangerous to the functioning of any space-going vessel. When aboard the station, he is confined to quarters near the Formers habitation. The radiation from the energy core at the center of the ship seems to soothe him, making him almost ... civilized.
In tow - two guards. Three functioning, out of control droids.
Alien Species: The Nalkvar are a rather unique species of plant-like organisms. The central body of a Nalkvar is somewhat like a pod of some sort, a sphere around 10-15 feet wide covered with sensory organs (+1 sense for main body) and with roots growing out of it. These roots spread all throughout the surrounding area, gathering nutrients. However, due to sparse nutrients in their home planet's soil, they have evolved a way of mobility, so to speak. Near the main growth of the Nalkvar are several podlike structures, grown from the Nalkvar. Within them are the comatose forms of their means of interaction with the outside world, the Free Bound.
The Free Bound have four legs in a square pattern with an insecticide torso mounted on top. This torso possesses four arms and highly developed sensory organs, including at least four pairs of eyes. These Free Bound are given instructions through neural fibers linked into their spinal system while still in the pods, and then released from the pods to perform their assigned task - ostensibly to kill animals to bring their corpses to the central growth, but they can be used for a variety of tasks. The Free Bound do have their own minds, but they are relatively simple, as their personality is reset every time they return to the pods, which is usually included in their instructions. They can also be used to talk to the Nalkvar itself through the Nalkvar giving it instructions for words through the neural fibers; the Free Bound essentially serve as their avatars in the world. As a Nalkvar ages, more pods are grown and more Free Bound are produced. The Free Bound range in size from about 30 centimeters (common food gatherers) to roughly a meter. their size influences the number of them available, and the complexity of available tasks. Larger sizes are possible for older Nalkvar.
Alien Individual: Thorimus, a young Nalkvar, was born no more than 200 years before his transfer onto the station - older Nalkvar are near impossible to move due to their dense roots - making him only 213 years old - young for his species. He is knowledgable, friendly, and curious, making his post as Station Librarian/Data Correlator appropriate to him. He has 2 one meter Free Bound and 4 thirty centimeter free bound.
-Data Correlator - Thorimus maintains the Station's public information systems, including such tasks as new data input and formatting, translation of information into the various languages, and distributing of important (and not so important) information throughout the Station. Thorimus is an official part of the Station crew.
Alien Species:Zhost: Zhost are tall, thin, bipedal amphibians. They are good at swimming and feel at home in the water. They can jump quite high and have 4 arms. (+1 Agility, +1 Dexterity) Their skin is gray or brown and they eat insects and other small animals.
Individual:Ghaer: Ghaer has gray skin and has a calm personality. Is pretty average for a Zhost.
Profession: Chef (Don't ever order his frog legs)
Species: Rolmber. A subterranean quadruped species that lived in caves for eons before they got intelligent enough and invented technology. They have two eyes that serve as heat sensors and several chitinous growths along their spine to detect vibrations in the atmosphere. In effect, they see heat, and listen with their spine. The species communicate with chirping noises and gesturing with their front right appendage which has long since evolved into a very dextrous manipulator with 4 digits that end in sharp claws. Their other limbs have membranes between the digits but no claws, acts like suction cups for climbing or even sticking to ceilings but they have long since abandoned their caverns. They are carnivorous and aggressive in nature, but evolution made them intelligent enough to create and handle very complicated technology. They are still somewhat pugnacious compared to other lifeforms, but they are not the blood thirsty cavern predators they once were. They are hairless and have a grey stone-textured skin tone. The average Rolmber is about 1.3 meters tall and weigh about 35 kg.
Alien individual: Due to the Rolmber language consisting of mostly different pitches and tones of chirping, this particular Rolmber opted to name himself "Fizz" in the common galactic language around these parts. He is 20 human years old, and is a child compared to his race's average lifespan of 130 human years. He is a very curious Rolmber and left his home planet on an "adventure" that had him sneaking onto a trader's cargo hull after obtaining the necessary translator collar, a pair of light sensor goggles (he cant see anything that has heat equivalent to atmospheric temperature, so the goggles removes the impairment by making the object visible to him) and a bag of his tools. He is somewhat of a troublemaker in the sense that he, even from the eyes of a common technologically savvy Rombler, likes to tinker with anything and everything electronic or is otherwise made of mechanical parts, and usually causes accidents by over modifying everyday tools into weapons.
