Oh, when you get a chance you should explore that lone mountain way off to the north. It's well worth the trouble.

and not a single time gave good advice  :P

But that's the brilliance of the trickster! Other people on the ring try to help, but they are not always right, and they have their own philosophies and wants and such. But with the trickster you always know at least one option is the bad one!

There's actually times when the trickster does give you good advice, though usually on accident.

As for the other races, they all individually have different opinions of you, being on good terms with them can mean good events, being on bad terms can mean bad ones, and being on really bad terms means they eventually get so pissed they curb stomp your clan. The trolls, dwarves, beastfolk, dragonkin, and perhaps some others will all do this. The elves don't, but that's because direct confrontation isn't their style, they'll try to make you bleed to death from a thousand paper cuts if you really piss them off.

I've never had trouble telling when the trickster is giving derp advice or when he is giving you a special option.  So the advice isn't an issue, IMHO, the downside is the occasional bad events.  In exchange he helps you with heroquests and gives you special options.  That seems to be worth 50 cows one time.  Oh plus you need him to create a tribe.

The only thing I sad about in this game is that you can't worship the chaos gods that would make a interesting run I think.

Why is it that no one chooses Elmal as their chief god?

I think the newer LP in the archive did. It gave them rather serious problems down the road, as Elmal worshipers are the smallest of the three main camps by far.

Less sad, more crazy, being that he's essentially the god of war. Only Humakt and Maran Gor are more crazy and violent amongst the worshipable gods. Humakt especially so. Maran Gor only wants to shake things up, literally.

It would be interesting if you could have some of the less major gods as your chief god.

Making Humakt your chief god would probably not be wise, seeing as Humakt's followers are usually bloodthirsty death-worshiping maniacs.

I think the lore reasoning is that Orlanth, Ernalda, and Elmal are the only gods which are stable and broad enough to constitute a majority share of a clan without it falling apart. A clan where most people worship Humakt would be kind of crazy. "Fuck planting, we've got to raid our ancestral enemy!"
