Very nice!  I've merged that in without problems, except Isoworld taking a while to load and render such a massive load of data.

Thats... odd, about the merging issues you have - I'd tested for that kind of thing before I announced the project and I haven't has any trouble yet (including your contribution, thanks).  Maybe it's an issue with the save folder?  You could try grabbing the LNP in my sig which I used to test and explore so far, so the save should work with that but who knows really.  I've decided that the way I'll track the big chunks people explore is to black them out on the biome map / Isoworld minimap, which should also make finding known features easier.  For now this is by hand and only precise for, say, large rectangular features on the edge of the map.

Does anyone know of a way to recolor specific pixels with a script or something?  With the folder structure, it's almost trivial to spit out a list of completed map tiles with a couple of for-loops and if-exist statements but I have no idea how to use such a list or table (.csv is pretty easy) to modify the minimap.

I'm planning to stitch the images together in something like GIMP with a yet unwritten script - the folder structure makes that a lot easier; as well as the numbers used to tag each image since I'm pretty sure that they're related to how it gets stitched together, and I'm planning to ask about that in the thread later.

NEW VERSION UP, includes Timeless Bob's massive row.

Unfortunately... Timeless Bob, the shorter history does seem to have an impact on the tundra.  I checked briefly, and the elevation is subtly different and the shading quite different.  We'll leave it for now (its a lot better than nothing), but maybe try the provided save again for further exploration?

Interesting.  I'll DL the LNP in your sig and redo the northern row of 16 x 16.  If Isoworld renders from those files, I'll just delete the previous information and continue down each column, except for areas already explored and posted.  Should take at most @20 days (assuming RL doesn't interfere.)  The row I posted took about four hours altogether. If you'd like to set up an external macro to advance by a row or a column, embark with an empty template, wait for a certain period for the renderer to complete the terrain then repeat - you'll just be doing what the Isoworld program already does, but one step greater.

Really, that's all I'm doing too.

I hope to be able to help with this. I'll be on vacation for about a week and won't be able to do much, however. Before I left I got the very northern tip of the large mountain range done (2 volcanos and a dark fortress that wasn't there. Should I just upload the whole region9 file to dffd for something? Oh, and would using dfhack to change the game mode to arena, spawning a bird, and using that to explore break the game?

I hope this go's far.

I notice you're including the isoworld files with each save.  After about 20% of the map has been covered, it'll really slow down the program loading (it'll be loading each previously saved tile first).  I'd like to see a screenshot mosaic of the saved files instead, eventually showing the entire map.  (Which may be too huge for most RAM to process, so it may have to become an actual mosaic "load on demand" system like Google earth uses instead.)

OK, so the LNP download took care of the problem.  Expect an upload link of those new files soon.
And there we go.  Here's the updated isoworld folder with the northernmost row updated as requested.

I think I'll add another row to your map - second row down from the northernmost one, to be linked to soon.

I'm not sure crowdsourcing works on these forums.  I've been chugging away with my 16 x 16 embarks, but haven't seen anyone else post stuff.

May give this a shot soon. Perhaps along the western shores. Is everything I need to download in the DFFD download?

All the content (maps and save) yes, utilities no. You need DF, and Isoworld, plus the dfhack plugin for Isoworld to do the detailed view. If in doubt, my LNP in my sig has all you need preconfigured.

Bumping this - Peri, have you done any more explorations yourself?

I'd help, but I run vanilla: no DFhack, much less IsoWorld.  And I've never played adventurer so my explorations would probably be hilariously short.
