Your most anticipated feature(s)?
« on: July 28, 2013, 04:19:44 am »

See title.

In the end we all want something that is simply not yet in the game.
What is it for you, Bay12?

Personally, I'm eager for Fort mode skills being usable in Adv. Mode. Sure, it's nice to raid a fortress for artifact weapons and armor, but it's better to forge them from ores that you yourself mined from your own mine in your own house.

And making your own civ throughout the world. Who needs strategy games?

Well, I'm waiting for a lot of features, and if I name them all we'd take forever, but right now what I'm waiting for is for Toady to fix marksdwarves being too stupid to get more ammo when they run out.

Supply and demand. Make it happen.
40d economy, from what I'm hearing, was not nearly good enough.

Economy does exists through caravan trading, terribly primitive but it exists :D
Sink's food, drink, clothings and bolts. Or caravan exports. Nothing terribly impressive.

I does misses having 40d economy for all of it's annoying quirks. Legendaries not having to pay for anything is a bit frustrating in my eye, and nobles randomly jacking up or dropping prices. Toys and instruments not breaking down and being replaced as relatively realistic economy would work is another nitpick. The internal fortress economy worked okay otherwise, with labor being paid by credit and repaid into rooming, food and drink and shopping.

Yeah, I misses 40d's economy a bit for playing with more interesting stuffs. Economical stuffs are things I'm looking forward to the most even if most of the world is mechanically limitless supply and sink limited only by caravan's capacity.

Real history with warfare that makes sense and timeline which continues after world gen. Full world with all sites actually existing. Adventurer mode entities and more dynamic NPC interaction in the world. NPC AI doing things in it own, just like it does during the history.

Most of these are going to happen in the next release.

Epic fighting system where you can intercept enemy attacks and break his wrists.

Oh wait, that's next release.

More impact on the world for things I accomplish. Things like creature familiarity is a good example. Another thing I'm very eager to play with is diplomacy, and inter-civ interactions beyond violence.

Gun powder and time travel. Also realistic time for fort mode.

All civ sites being fleshed out, fortress politics and associated clans and guilds, the economy coming back, moving fortress parts and ships, and the personality rewrite.

You might want to have a look at dfhack AdvFort. Because it does exactly what you describe. Your adventurer can build every buildings, run every reaction... mine... fell trees...

The feature I'm most looking forward to is Fortress Mode retirement, and not just because it's coming up in the next release.

Finished: Weatherwires, the Last Mountainhome. A tragic mix of Children of Men, City of Ember, and, uh, magma.
Stymied: Correspondence from Syrupurns, a prematurely ended narrative, told through annual updates.
In Progress: Roomcarnage, a fortress clinging to life beneath a haunted glacier.
