Whenever I forge a set of boots and tell my squads to go put them on, one or two of the dwarves in the squad always seems to have trouble with it. Their current job will change to "pickup equipment", they'll go over to where the boots are, then they'll just stand there forever failing to put the boots on. It doesn't seem to happen with any other piece of armour. Any ideas why this is?

I have that too. One guy just keeps standing of my dozens of pairs of low boots-even when i moved the stockpile he just followed them-though it doesnt say picking up equipment. Maybe he likes the smell?

Perhaps it is -you- who has created the problem. Perhaps there are too many boots to choose from, and he is in an endless loop of deciding and redeciding which pair he wants... Way to go... your soldiers are going to all become gays and women by the end of the week   :p

But they're all the same! One pair of bronze high boots is not much different to another . . . I'm sure they'll all go with his outfit.

Seriously though, anyone got any ideas?

Mine do this with weapons. I bugged it.

I don't remember if I have a bug report or not.  They might be confused by the fact that shoes don't layer as well as other armor.
