[D&D 3.5 Play-by-Post] Ascencion of the Drow
« on: July 25, 2013, 07:10:36 pm »

Note that this is made for those who already know the rules of D&D 3.5. If you have some questions, feel free to PM me, but please know the basics of the game.

For many centuries, the Drow had been confined to the underground; the Dwarvern outpost of Ôyùpur-Abanaz had stood strong against the onslaught of evil. However, the Dwarves strength has finally fallen, and the Dark Elves are free to roam the lands, slaughtering many, razing the towns of the Dwarves. In the human lands of Cyll, where you are making your name as an adventurer, this news has not yet arrived.

Know that part of the reason I'm running this is to familiarize myself with 3.5 rules, so I may get a few things wrong. If you notice a rule I used wrong, just point it out to me.

Would you like full character sheets or just those questions answered?

Are we "good-race" adventurers or "evil-race" ones?

I'm using the core 3 books (Player's Handbook, DMG, and the Monster Manual)

Answering the questions is enough, I can get the rest of the sheet from there. As for the races, I'm using the good ones primarily, though average humanoid monsters like Kobolds are fine.

EDIT: Oh, I'm also using the Monster Manual III-V

My bad, I need your ability scores too. Also, how many ranks do you want to put in those skills?

Do you want us to roll 4d6-drop-one at home, use the Elite Array, point buy, what?

Do we start with max gold, average gold, roll it in Invisible castle?

And if I give you a link to the sourcebooks I'm using, can I use them? I don't want to make a super-optimized character, I just tend to despise using spell-casters due to the complexities involved, and most of the non-caster classes become irrelevant quickly. Though, if we're starting at level 1, that may not matter.

EDIT: Eh, I'll just play a sorceror. They should be fun, though the splatbooks for their draconic stuff would make it better. http://www.scribd.com/doc/98693483/D-D-3-5-Races-of-the-Dragon-OEF is a book I own, for example, and I'd love to use the Spellscale race, especially as it'd make the various draconic feats for sorcerors from http://www.scribd.com/doc/82226364/Complete-Arcane and http://www.scribd.com/doc/83109716/Dragon-Magic fluff even better, and you might homerule it as me not needing to take Draconic Heritage.

It's 4d6 roll.
As for gold, I didn't realize that there were multiple ways. The Player's Handbook lists the following for the classes.

Barbarian 4d4 × 10 (100 gp) Paladin 6d4 × 10 (150 gp)
Bard 4d4 × 10 (100 gp) Ranger 6d4 × 10 (150 gp)
Cleric 5d4 × 10 (125 gp) Rogue 5d4 × 10 (125 gp)
Druid 2d4 × 10 (50 gp) Sorcerer 3d4 × 10 (75 gp)
Fighter 6d4 × 10 (150 gp) Wizard 3d4 × 10 (75 gp)
Monk 5d4 (12 gp, 5 sp)

Also, that depends on the source books.

I made some edits, and also this book, perhaps: http://www.scribd.com/doc/84006473/Spell-Compendium
Here's my ability score roll, which I'm keeping regardless of what I play, because I got an 18.

Abilities, before dwarven racial modifiers.

Okay, your character is good GWG. RPgeek, the books are good, but you need to assign which roll you want to go to what.

Sorry. Spells, especially when I'm a sorceror and thus will not be able to change them for a long time, are difficult to choose. Maybe I should have been a wizard...
