I've never really gotten better, but I'd love to play a game with you guys. Did the group suddenly go 'MLG pro', or is it still just having fun with the game?

It kind of dwindled in activity since it turns out that without new things or events GOI isn't too interesting. And this is the first big update in... a while.

Yeah, each position should feel a bit more involved... I'd love it if you could, during the game, customise the engine and rebuild it in new ways that would change its capabilities. Same for balloons, etc... and the more you killed, the more you'd have to work with, perhaps. This is probably more suited to a space game.

I played this again after not having played for about 5 months, and discovered that I've grown to like the game again. Especially considering I've found a few builds that are ridiculously powerful if your crew isn't incredibly stupid.

The devs are currently giving away free copies of the base game to everyone on their mailing list. The copies are going out in a short while. Go to their site and subscribe to news to get a free copy for you or a friend. This giveaway is in celebration of the upcoming Alliance pve/co-op dlc/expansion.

In november, there will be a 2 weeks free open beta for the alliance dlc for anyone who owns the base game.

If you own this game you can get the "Alliance" expansion coming out for about 10 moneys. The promotion runs until Wednesday, January 4th.

Sadly I did not set aside ten monies, and have already blown my holiday steam budget on other games.

Anyway, I figured now would be as good a time as any to plug the Bay 12 Discord where I usually hang out. I can't usually get four of the lazy bums in there to want to play Guns of Icarus at once, but if we did it would be a great place to make a full team with voice chat, which is by far the best way to play.

Okay, I already own it, and I'm seeing the Alliance DLC for $10.04, but the bundle of GoI Collector's Edition Upgrade + Alliance for $9.47. Is that right?

Nice to see this getting in our collective radars. Hope the Alliance expansion is fun. Base game was extremely fun, but I got tired of it doing to always fighting the same people in the same conditions, back then.

...I've not actually played this besides the tutorials - got Silver medal for Engineering, Gold for Gunner, Bronze for Pilot.

Anyway, to actually play, you apparently have to pick one of four factions, though it seems like you can switch freely.
