Hehehe - the game does seem to be a little intensive on the computer for the graphics it has. Not sure why that is!

Also, in the second video my voice has like, 20s delay or something. I'm crying "noooo" after we've respawned! Is that an artifact of the recording or was I lagging that bad in-game as well?

Played this for three hours, mostly as a pilot on sniper-spec Pyramidon, with a real life friend and a random player as engineers (the three of us stick together throughout multiple matches) with voice comm on in 2v2 battles. Due to bad visibility when piloting, I found that it's best to get direction from my crew ("enemy at six o clock", "no firing angle, turn slightly left"). I still made decisions where to position the ship or whether we should hold or run, but getting information from them immensely helped in orientating the ship.

Had a couple of amazing matches when we made a come back from the jaw of defeat.

Looking forward to playing with you all.

In game name is Elsior.

What I wouldn't give for being able to fly a fighter off one of these things, and dogfight / drop bombs.......
The adventure mode kickstarter had a stretch goal for flyable steampunk biplanes, likely using large zeppelins as aircraft carriers of sorts. I was thinking something along the lines of Crimson Skies =p

I don't think it reached that point unfortunately so the fighters will be AI controlled.

EDIT: We need to update the OP so that it includes things like how to get into the steam group.

I haven't been playing with you guys because I've been feeling a bit sick, but I may join you guys. Just be aware that I'll probably make you guys fail =p

I played my first game, in a Pyramidion manning the front Gatling and Flak guns.

Pretty cool.  We won without dying once.  I'll have to see what it's like with a group.

I'm willing to buy a 4 pack.
Are there other people willing to split the cost?

Since I'm bored, I decided to start Analysis of the various ships offered in the game.

To start off with, let's go with the classic Goldfish
Pros:
- Forward Heavy Mount allows a variety of powerful weapons to be utilized
- Has Guns on 3 sides, allowing ability to react in most situations.
- Balloon and Hull are near captain, allowing him to react to damage to both quickly.

Cons:
- Spread Out Main Engine is far away from Hull, weakening engineer's ability to react to damage there
- Only 3 Guns, each on one side, reducing ability to deal significant damage.
- Side Engines are not as accessible, slowing down repairs.

Verdict: The Goldfish benefits primarily from it's powerful main gun. All engagements want to focus on using that gun, and you want an engineer on both the rear and the front to guarantee the presence to repair both it's hull and maintain it's main engine.

If people are okay with my accessment, I am willing to do more ships on request.

While dicking around a couple of days back we found that the best thing to do against a galleon (possibly the worst thing for a goldfish to take on due to the huge firepower compared to the goldfish's squishyness, and the fact that the galleon's broadside is fucking huge) is to try and take it head on, then either remain there or go underneath or over then flee to come back to face their front again.

That's what we were flying yesterday, I think. I'll agree on most points, especially that it's hard to concentrate a lot of firepower. I still feel the best tactic is to have a gatling gun take out the armour, followed almost immediately by some heavy guns. That usually takes out a ship.

Regarding repairs, though, I feel the captain is fairly far away from everything. He has to jump down to get at the hull, but then needs to come back up (passing the balloon), leaving the con for quite some time. It's nice that's there's only a maindeck and a topdeck - the maindeck with 2 engineers takes care of most guns and hull, and then an engineer to take care of the top deck with little trips to the main deck on occasion works pretty well! That's what we did :) It's also nice that the time before you can re-repair the balloon is about enough to run to the main engines and back!

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

God I hate king-of-the-hill in the dunes. The capture point is where the sand clouds are. Getting chased by two goldfish with balloon poppers inside a sand cloud. Balloon broken, engines out, hull scraping the dunes and no weapons.

yeah, you should see our video of our game in the dunes, we were spending more time of repairs than actually firing at shit!
