Vodmosus--the Grand Experiment
« on: July 24, 2013, 02:16:45 am »

It's been a long, hard road to this new Outpost, far from the Mountainhomes. We have brought ample supplies, but tempers wore thin during the trip. We seven survivors have quarreled amongst ourselves too much during the trip, though Monom was the main instigator, so much so that our convoy did not have proper pickets out one night goblins made off with most of our supplies that were to go towards building a fortress. Tempers flared and fingers pointed amongst the survivors as we buried our dead and picked through the remains of the wagons. All our weapons were stolen by the goblins, and we managed only to keep hold of a single training axe, some food, booze, seeds, and some coal and ore that were deemed too heavy to carry by the weak goblins. Amongst the dead and mortally wounded animals, we managed to find some poultry, several dogs, and a quartet of sheep. Below is the roster of the living following the ambush:

Bomrek Libadlorbam
Monom Ilromsazir
Catten Dastotshin
Minkot Thadfikod
Uzol Letmososlan
Mafol giginonol
Erith Lunlikot, Expedition Leader

We ain't got any particular skills towards any professions--we were to be the grunts that kept the wheels runnin' smooth. Now, we're all that's left.

It did not help that the further we traveled, the colder it got. We have just reached the site that we agreed we would build--a waterfall that splits in two directions from the bottom. The river is frozen solid, and despite the incredible sightt of the frozen waterfall, we have agreed to split supplies and part company.

Nervous Monom and Morose Minkot have agreed to leave the main fortress to keep the peace, as long as Uzol and Bomrek are not allowed to build with the others as well. Well, Monom agreed, and Minkot just nodded his head to keep the peace. Mafol, Catten, and I, Erith, the Expedition Leader, will begin building the main fort. We also be taking the anvil. Though Iron is plentiful around here, we've seen plenty of Hematite deposits--won't be long before all three forts have their own smithies up and running. We're also splitting the livestock--we'll each have a dog, a sheep, a Hen, and a Goose apiec. The main fort'll be keeping the males, just in case one of the groups decides to go crazy and murder the other group, killing some o' the animals in the process.

There's your bloody progress report. I be sendin' this by our last pigeon. For Mosus' sake, send us some bloody reinforcements. We've agreed to split newcomers evenly, but we ain't got many folks here! We be on a boozepile and some fool idjit is fixin' to use it as a bonfire!

Not literally, but

whatever. SEND MORE BLOODY PEOPLE. No more loony one's like we already got. Stable-like.

Erith Lunlikot,
Vodmosus Expedition Leader.

I didn't actually say this.

there is nothing funnier than watching a goblin army get assaulted by hundreds of war chickens.

Any new discovery, sufficiently weaponize, is indistinguishable from !!FUN!!

Cool. So is this, like, two fortresses... in one fortress?!?!?

If so, great idea. If not, I'm dumb, please correct me.

What I got was that there will be three groups, being:

Group 1: Erith, Mafol, Catten

Group 2: Monom, Minkot

Group 3: Bomrek, Uzol

On the whole it sounds like a great idea, in theory. How do you plan to keep them apart as far as labors, like if a dwarf from one group decided to go build a wall designated for building in one of the other groups' territories? Will you keep them apart via burrows, or play any such events into the story?

Also, I'd like to be dwarfed, please, if you plan to do that. No preferences other than not being a member of the main fort, if that's possible.

Finally, it would be great if you posted a few pictures to illustrate what is going on.

(sorry for giant post)
