She finally wakes up, eyes opening, though they don't exactly look... normal. They're black, pure spheres of utter darkness that seems to consume all light. She looks up at him for a long time, silent.

He stares back in the manner of a cat observing something. He's utterly still, observing, calculating.
After several minutes of this, he speaks, his voice low and quiet, the rest of his body remaining perfectly still.
What are you?
