Perhaps. Though have you considered any other factors? It would seem that demigods like yourself would be all possessed of magic, but they are not. Why is this?

"Well, the gods themselves don't have magic. They might be able to give themselves magic at any given time, but they don't passively possess it like us. So my powers wouldn't come from those genes. They'd have to come from some outside factor besides my ancestry. Or maybe everyone possesses magic like us, but some just have it so weak that they can't do anything with it. Who knows really? Many arguments with valid points could be made. Nevertheless, this is an interesting topic."

Selina narrowly dodges an almost literal mountain on books falling from nowhere. After looking through a few of them - here she notices that she can apparently read much faster in this room than elsewhere - the general impression of the authors seems to be that it isn't anything to do with the body, but rather the mind.
At least that's what they think.

No. I was referring to the literal phenomenon that allows you to shapeshift to a variety of felinoid forms without horrific pain and months in a hospital bed with each change.

There doesn't seem to be anything related to the core, oddly enough. Though she does notice an aside by the author noting that almost everyone possessing magic becomes a big name, an important person in one or more ways. That could be relevant.
