A bit of an odd question about casinos.
« on: July 22, 2013, 11:54:50 pm »

For my brother's birthday, we went to a casino buffet to enter into food comas. During our usual round of bizarre conversation, a question came up: How many of the seven deadly sins does the casino pander to?

We were able to come up with the two obvious ones:
Buffet=gluttony, and the casino floor=greed.

Now I'm thinking that envy and pride probably factor in there somewhere, but I can't quite place them.

Avarice = Obvious.
Envy = Of other winners.
Gluttony = Buffet.
Lust = ...
Pride = Belief that you will be able to win while others fail.
Sloth = Refusal of honest work in favor of profit by chance.
Wrath = Rage at not winning.

Have you ever been to a casino? Some of the outfits they put the female workers in defiantly panders to lust.
Also, isn't it avarice and greed, rather than avarice and envy? I thought greed was wanting more, while avarice was wanting what others have AKA envy.

Oh... Well I've been using that one wrong the entire time.

So can we fit in acedia at all? I mean it is different enough from sloth to count.
