Well, quite a lot has happened, irl and in game, so I haven't played nearly a full year for this update. I have updated the OP with your dorf's statuses. If anyone wants to be redorfed, just think up a new name, and I will give you a new, not insane/dead dorf. Anyhow, on with the story!

Chapter 3: Chaos Death, death, death. Death is all around me. There is no escape, there can never be any escape. Death take us all!
Some migrants have arrived. What fools they are, to leave the mountainhomes and come to this place. Fools who shall be repaid with death!
The fortress itself is dying. Insane dwarves are tearing it apart. There is no way out. We are doomed.
The remaining pages of the journal are all covered in unintelligible scribbles and crude drawings such as these. Only the inside of the back cover has any further information.I realize now, with the clarity and wisdom that only death brings, that I was mad. This is the last message I will ever give to anyone, and with it, I hope to instruct the next ruler of the fortress so that perhaps they can save it.
The new militia commander, if he survives the tumult, is to be the strongest immigrant, NRDL I believe his name is. Though it will be difficult, the standards of this society must not be compromised, as only strength will see it through these challenges. I hope that this message will be accepted and followed.

Darn. I went insane. That’s unfortunate. No matter, I shall be reincarnated as DarkMaul!
===
The Journal of DarkMaulAfter the death of Shadowhammer, chaos continues to grip the fortress. I have ordered that all sane dwarves are to confine their mad comrades to the opposite side of the dining hall, to avoid too much further destruction.
I have followed the late Shadowhammer’s advice on the appointment of NRDL, as he has an unbreakable will, so surely he will be the last dwarf to go insane.
The insanity is continuing, despite my best efforts to halt it. Even Lalasa, who has been busy brewing drinks and cooking food to celebrate the victory isn’t untouched by the tragedies occurring. Just yesterday, she had a brief tantrum before regaining control of herself.
Lalasa’s situation quickly turned very bad. In a single day, she lost her father, mother, friend, annoying acquaintance, and husband to tragedy. She soon was stricken by melancholy.
To make the situation worse, it appears that we still have a vampire in our midst! I had hoped that it died in a brawl, but Ruhn was just found in his bed, completely drained of blood! Sadly, we can’t investigate further because of the massive amount of violence and insanity right now.
The fort’s first child, Timeless Bob, is still surviving. I saw him today, crawling around the dining room being fed from the tables. He gave me hope; an innocent child surviving when so many scarred warriors have failed. Perhaps we shall persevere after all.
A helot has been taken by a fey mood! With all this death around him, I feared that he would make a dark, grisly artifact, but instead he made this:
===
This artifact may not seem useful, but it secretly is, because of this decoration:
Necromancing King! Yay!
===
While it does not contain any horrifying artwork, I still fear for its maker’s sanity, because of this image:
There is also an image of a fierce battle, the Furious sieges of the year 43, between our ancestors and the goblins at Larvaplague.
An elven caravan has arrived. We were in no shape to receive them, but they insisted, so we looked through their goods, and took a tame grizzly bear. Sadly, we still have no breeding pair, because both of them are male, but perhaps a female will fall into the bear trap.
More helots are going berserk. They are swiftly put down by the military though, and I think the fortress is on its way to recovery.
The dead walk! There was no sign of a necromancer, but the skeleton of a dog began attacking the other guard dogs. It was swiftly killed, but not without loss. NRDL, hardened individual though he was, couldn’t take it anymore. He has slipped into a melancholy mood, and refuses to speak with anyone.
I did a quick census today, and the results were grim. We have only 30 citizens left, and four of them have already gone mad. There are only 3 skilled soldiers left, with a fourth lying injured in his bed, so I have put them all in a single squad under the command of Peregarrett. The only good thing about this situation is that, by scavenging through the belongings of the dead, Peregarrett has managed to put together an impressive suit of armor.
===
Well, Peregarrett, it’s a good thing you have barely any family or friends in the fort. Your grandfather is a perioikoi, so I’m trying to protect him, and your brother is just a lucky helot who has been killed yet. You are still sane!
On a different note, I can’t find Timeless Bob. He doesn’t appear on the units screen anywhere; not in citizens, and not in dead/missing. He probably crawled into hole and died, and no one noticed.

The vampire has finally been found: it was our mayor, Zas! Instead of killing her, though, as punishment we put her eternal patrol duty, watching for the undead outside our gates. Since she is without a beating heart, they will not attack her, and he needs no rest or nourishment, so she will be a perfect guard.
Our weaponsmith has withdrawn from society! Perhaps he, too, will create an artifact of unrivaled quality, like the other dwarves who had such strange moods. And, like the bone crafter, maybe he will also gain amazing knowledge of his craft! A weaponsmith of legendary status would go a long way towards helping this outpost survive.
===
Weaponsmith strange mood! None shall stand against this fortress now!
===
While were waiting for the metalsmith to finish forging his masterpiece, an enchanted message came to us on the winds: The dead walk. Hide while you still can! Though we only have three trained soldiers, there is no choice; we will fight.
The enemy force is a completely disorganized rabble, at least 45 corpses coming from every direction. They are led by not one, not two, but three necromancers! The vampire has been tasked with killing them, but the coward hides below in the dining hall, pretending to be “picking up her equipment”. Scum. When she finally arrived at the battle field, the enemy had advanced within attacking range of the war dogs guarding the entrance. This is likely to be my last entry in this journal.
===
Durn vampire refuses to equip any clothing/armor, so she is chasing the necros around with only a spear, which she isn’t even skilled with.
I absolutely HAVE to survive this battle. In the seconds before it started, a female grizzly was captured, and we already have two males. War grizzlies, CHARGE!!!

A summary of the upcoming battle:
These guys
Are trying to kill these guys
While a single vampire tries to kill three necromancers in time to stop them from raising all the dead as they are killed.
