Goddammit. It's like they aren't even affected by my vinegar cologne.

Sling some rocks at the antmen. Show them it's better to be undergrown than overgrown!

I interpreted that as "They have darts and can therefore hit you"

Colour spray has a very short range.  You didn't follow him down the passage. Alas.

You sling stone a bug dude. he is hit for 3 damage and looks mildly annoyed.

Those are some very long murder holes.
Locate the hole the dart came through and stand next to it. To clarify: not in front of it, in front of an adjacent section of wall with no holes.
