In the last month or so, I've become quite enamored with the music of an indie rock band called Metric. I stumbled onto one of their songs on Youtube, and after looking around a bit I found some songs of theirs that I absolutely loved. I've been hankering for something similar, but the problem is that this isn't usually the type of music I listen to (normally I listen to pure instrumental music), so it really isn't easy for me to try to find other music that's like theirs.

I'm hoping that some of you guys might have some suggestions for me, if you know about something similar to them! As great as I find their songs, listening to the same few over and over has become pretty repetitive.

For reference, I mostly prefer the acoustic versions of their songs. Some links you might want to look at so you can get a feel of what I like about them:

I'm... not sure I can match the whole presentation with anything I'm familiar with, but I can maybe dig up a few things that are related, but different in composition or tone. What do you find so enthralling about them, specifically?

Also, what kind of instrumental do you listen to? No links are necessary, I can google

What genres are you interested in/dislike, and what do you like about them? Giving us just one band isn't super helpful.

Sorry for the unhelpful OP, I was kind of in a rush when I wrote it.

It's a little difficult for me to describe what exactly I like about the band. Specifically, I like the lead singer (Emily Haines)'s voice: it generally feels very musical to me, and the vocals feel very impassioned. At the same time she sings very clearly so I actually understand her instead of listening to her cluelessly. I also like the interplay between the piano and the guitar on the acoustic versions, because I find that they mesh very well together, and the chords are incredibly catchy. I prefer the acoustic style in general: I like to stay away from audio processing as much as possible, actually.

Genre-wise, I'm not exactly interested in specific genres. When I look for instrumentals, I tend to look for new agey/neoclassical music, but that's not exactly applicable to this situation. I can tell you that I definitely am not looking for electronic (I don't like heavy audio processing, like I said before), metal (just too loud and busy for me), or rap (really not my style, at all).

I don't exactly know what you're looking for but I like Metric, too. They have good melodies and a good song to me is all about the melodies, and based on that and that I'm into indie and alternative rock, you may like these:

@Trif Not quite exactly the kind of music I was thinking of when I made the OP, but I really liked it nonetheless! I'll look into the link you suggested a bit more, it's definitely something I can listen to.

@xczxc I definitely enjoyed all three of those songs, especially the first one. I think I might check out the radio when I have a bit more time, and I will look into both of those groups. I think you had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for after all

I didn't really expect people to post a month after I made the thread, but thanks! I'll check everything that's just been posted out when I have a bit more time. I really appreciate that you guys would care to share!

@sackhead Not really sure if that's my preferred style, but it was definitely interesting to listen to something new.

@Biowrath Actually, what you had was pretty close to the kind of stuff I was looking for. Can't say that I was a huge fan of the first one, but the last two were pretty good, especially the second one.
