Lord Protector
« on: July 21, 2013, 12:17:31 pm »

The messenger has nearly ridden his horse and himself to death to bring the Orders ,which entail your appointment as Lord Protector, to you as fast as possible.

That indeed is bad news. The War against the Demonspawn had been going terribly already, your appointment can only mean that the Old Lord Protector had died in battle...great, just great.

As you ride with twenty Knights of your Personal Guard ( Yes good old fashioned Knights, since the Empires Military had begun to use gunpowder weapons the traditional knights have become less and less important) you think of what awaits you...

But first of all:

What is your Name?
What is the Name of the Empire you serve?
What is the Name of the Capital?

Ooh. That's tempting.

Unfortunately "Lord Tinklebottom" has already inspired me.

Santo like some fictious medieval kingdoms or Santo like the not Roman, not Holy and not an empire, Holy Roman Empire?

Ah yes, Blackmourn, the Pride of Ferras. The Capital was a sprawling behemoth a boil on the face of the land it was build upon. You personally would ha-

"Lord Solokai! Ahead!"

i was ripped from my ruminations by the call of one of my men. Blackmourn...was burning. I could hear the sound of battle even from here. Its vast walls were destroyed and masonry was strewn before the city as if the Behemoth had been gutted. Blackmourn was burning...the Lady have mercy the Emperor!

How could they have been so fast? Last i heard the Campaing was going bad but not this bad.
In front of the City the enemy field camp was clearly visible abandoned in favour of conquering and looting Blackmourn.

Order the youngest of your men to carry the news back. Attempt to deduce the strategies of the enemy by observing the onslaught

Loot what we can from the camp, and burn everything that we can't take or don't have time to.

I would find it rather comical if we actually succeed in ransacking their siege camp while they're ransacking our city.
Spoiler:  Vulgar insinuation (click to show/hide)

btw, while setting fire to their camp, rations, supplies etc, we should look for their command tent and steal anything shiny/sensitive inside.

You groom your non-existant moustache...you are above such a petty thing. Instead you stroke your impressive beard.

Finally you decide to approach their Siege Camp. It is indeed empty, but looking at it closer you reconsider stealing their supplies: next to a butchers tent you find several pens filled to the brim with half starved elves used as proviant. Wide-Eyed they stare at you, their spirits clearly broken.

You have never seen an elf before in your live, but you doubt that they usually look this pathetic. Indeed as you recall correctly the Elven Kingdoms to the West had fallen months ago, these poor bastards must have suffered through unspeakable things. Looking around your men find no things of use, the Demonspawn Armours and Weapons are far to heavy and large to use for you. That of their smaller twisted brethren, they use as chaff ,is worse equipment than your own.

As you are about ot open the Elven Kennels you hear the sound of Catapults being fired deeper in Blackmourn. You hear a massive groan and with a thundering sound a tower in the Imperial Citadel topples and buries a whole street below it. Seems like there are still defenders in the City...

I still think we should fire their camp, free their food & look for the commander's tent. We may even find him with a small guard.

We may be the lord protector, but 20 men won't make much difference when the city's being torn apart. Not unless we apply ourselves well, (like taking the commander by surprise/nabbing something of value from his tent).

Otherwise: do we know of any 'oh shit' buttons the defenders must have forgotten to press? Something that'll flood the streets in magma or something?
