If you are going to be taken down with the first attack of a vampire in a world full of vampires, you're in trouble regardless of if you trust any one given vampire.

Yet, if you trust a vampire, if it decides to drain you dry you're in real trouble.

If you trust a human, if it decides to stab you in the heart you're in real trouble.
And stabbing-in-the-heart is a LOT faster than draining-dry.

First one is not really, though they can sort of selectively zone out and let time pass them by.

I think I've answered the second before.
