I'm fairly sure Alex doesn't have any obvious weaknesses, need for resources aside. But then, even if there was one it would probably go completely unnoticed by everyone, given precedent.

The only hope you have of getting cured before you return to reenact your plan is either me synthesising an antidote, the demon curing you or Alex giving you an innate resistance... All though he'd still need to know how and what with.

Perhaps Alex could modify Darnos's body to have vampiric venom and constantly input it into his bloodstream. As he'll be loyal to the the source of the venom and since he is the source, he'll be loyal to himself, thus counteracting Angel's control over him.
