From that description, I can't help but think of this as a magical and less sci-fi version of Einsteinian Roulette.

Except that the teams are set and we might end up having more than one of them, and also it's not a RTD, maybe I suppose.

I'll just leave this here...

My actual question was intended to ask how--and if--classes would be implemented.

It looks more like Castle Oblivion.

That's your call. If you want to have a class RPed through, then you can. Generally there will be classes for damn near anything, and if you'd like your character to take, say, Advanced Poetry, you can definitely include that as either a detail in her posts or an entire RP setting.

of course, Swordfighting 101 is just as possible, as is Intro to Mindrape.

Science is the art of using what you know to make impressive things work predictably.
Magic is the art of exploiting loopholes in the laws of nature to do the "impossible".
Combine them, and you are in good shape.

Alex isn't really a scientist. Probably not even a SCIENTIST! Really more of an enthusiastic artist.

Or: "Any sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science!"
--Agatha Heterodyne

This captures the essence of the thing much better than the second quote you mentioned.
