Should there be a waiting process between making an account and posting spam?

EH, well we get a lot of people who come and post spam for games, when someone just posts a short description, no screenshots, etc... It kinda says, "Look a spam bot." No offence intended.

sorry i just took it the wrong way. Its a FPS 2D shooter its been around since 06, but now theirs a more advanced version with 8 different classes you can play. The first version was taken over by hackers i guess you could call them and the owner took the game down for about a year and re did it, then made another game called ZED. Which is a zombie killing game with teams. Kind of like Left for Dead but no where close to the graphics and its also 2D.Pawn Tactics Is from an aerial view looking down so you can really only see the tops of players heads. It has stat tracking with K/D points and clans. The beta just ended. But like i said it was open years ago, so the only people who knew about it were the ones who played and a lot have quit. The owner isn't putting out ads or anything for it yet because hes still working on his other project (ZED) But it is a great game and pretty fun community, just not as active as it was, so were trying to get more people to play.

And once again im sorry i took it the wrong way, i understand about having random people just coming on here and posting stuf. I just wanted to get my first post out then download the game in the mean time.

Also the forums might look really inactive because well they are, but our old website was crazy active, just like this as i can see how many people are online.

While it's nice you're really passionate about this game, you're not selling it well. If you -really- want more people to play it, I would suggest doing a few things. Try to write a description focusing on the game play. Tell us what makes it special. Why should I play this over any game of the same style? Is the community mature? Does it cost money to play? Is it pay to win? These are important things that I, and probably others, would like to know before considering investing time to try the game out. Also, screenshots are pretty important. You can grab any screen capture software online (I use greenshot personally) and then upload it to some image hosting website (such as img.ie). Then just use the insert image icon in the post UI. Use the images to support your description of the game (describing combat, show an image of combat below or above that).

Then edit all of this stuff (the button at the bottom or top right of your post) into the original post of the thread, the OP (your first post).

Also, try looking at some of the other threads in this forum for lessor known games. Some games are so well known that they don't need a good OP, but generally the lesser known ones need to be descriptive and convincing to generate interest. It should give you an idea of how to write a good OP.

If you just wanted to share the game with us, then that's fine. Not many people will try it out though if you don't put the effort into it.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Just saw this thread so thought I'd help out that other dude (convo's over now and probably not that much help anyway, but hey!).

Had a thriving community a few years ago before it inexplicably vanished from the interwebs, much to my (and others') dismay. I wistfully searched for it a few days ago and there it was again at the location posted by MrNacho. Had less sleep than I needed last night because of it.

Costs nowt to play. Give yourself a username and off you go.

Top down multiplayer shooter.

Most games involve working as a team to achieve an objective (capture the flag, destroy everyone else, king of the castle etc). Don't have to be a member of a clan but you can if you want to be.

Choose from 8 classes with unique weapons and abilities etc each time you respawn. Recon class is fun (invisible till you attack with your butterknife!). Medic heals and totes a shotgun. Assault for those who like to spam an area with grenades. Heavy for noobish trigger-holding-bullet-spraying-at-everything.

Movement is with arrow keys. Aim with the mouse. Switch weapon with scroll. You also have the option to sprint for short periods.

Used to be a tonne of fun. Just adding my thoughts to those of the other gentleman. Good for a quick blast.

It's a shame you missed it a few years ago, but things come and go. Anyway, good day and thanks for the forum!

Eh, gave it a try. Spawned as assault.

Got in the game, no one on, waited a bit; then an enemy spawned Recon, got me once via stealth, then got killed twice once I figured him out. Then he ragequit.

Another person came on, also recon. Ran around a bit but no one else was on the server.

Third person, also recon. See first entry.

Kinda seeing a trend here...

First person shooter, first person has ALWAYS meant looking trough the eye of the character.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-person_shooter

But here it says Top down FPS, so the camera is OVER the character looking down? Camera cannot be over and inside the character at the same time, so either its a shooter FPS or a top-down shooter, that guy with his incredible vocabulary used FPS to designate shooter type game instead of using the proper word that is shooter and not FPS.

So unless i misunderstood what you just said ( French here ), defending his choice of word is not the best idea as they simply cannot coexist pretty much like dry water.

I kind of liked it myself. (Visual) Omphaloskepsis definitely involves looking down, assuming you're standing or sitting in a normal position, and you can most definitely portray this action with a first-person perspective.

Indeed, many men in the world recreate the world's oldest top-down first-person shooter every time they go to the bathroom... (Accuracy: 10%, evidently.)
