I think so.

Bones
Spine. You need some backbone to attach other bones to.

Do note that bones, and other rigid parts might have more negative than positive effects. They make us less agile, complicate the regeneration process, and cost quite a lot of energy while giving no real benefits.
Lets keep things simple till we get better ways of reproduction, and more use for stuff.

Hence, a simple notochord.

They're also required for becoming a land animal (bones or an exosceleton, and exoskeletons don't scale well) and basically anything more complicated than a sea urchin (discounting octopusses/i, they're special).
We need a spine for speed and agility; a skeleton to hold on to makes muscles much more efficient!

// Don't be mad at me for saying this, but I don't think I can (or want) to continue Extinction - I'm still experimenting with various kinds of forum games right now, and evolution games are not exactly my style. :\

NOOOO!

. . . I'm guessing that there aren't any other active evolution games right now?

Competition is a bit more immortal than this one. (although it also has down times, but keeps going)

Sorry, mates. But evolution games just aren't my sort of thing, it seems. And it's better for me to realize that relatively early than bring you low-quality content. (even if my content is low-quality in the first place)
