I bring up this illustration as a further representation of Dwarf Fortress learning.

I dunno, Starcraft seems pretty hard, with the Koreans and all that...

Damn it Ocu, that drawing cracked me up!

Love it!

like00111 Welcome to fucking Dwarf Fortress!

You will encounter:
Magma - its the first, last and really only thing that is both question and answer to everything here at Bay12
Carp - oh Amork, the horror... the horror (que Elephants, Badgers...)
Mermaid Farming - not so much these days, but still...
Baby Rugby - which as I recall, was all about our beardlings eating their children
Child Day Care - its not really what your first thought was
Tantrum Spirals - have popcorn and enjoy the show
Catsplosions - 100001 ways to bring your computer to its knees
Megaprojects - if there is a simple and effective, or vastly complicated, inefficient, error prone way of doing something, your first instinct will automatically be the latter
& - enough said about that.

Yes in more than 1 way. You have fantasy creatures that literally do no exist and megabeasts and semi-megabeasts. If a world is in "The Age of Myth" then that means there are a ton of the things in the world.

Yes in fact there is. You'll probably encounter things like dragons, giants, titans, and minotaurs later, but there are also animal men as well as some creatures such as ogres. I suppose FBs might count as well, and then there's clowns.

FB's confused the hell out of me when I first saw them. And even if they sound weak, chances are it will kill a score of your dwarves before you manage to bring it down.

You might want to build coffins for all your dwarves in advance.
Trust me, it will save a lot of trouble.
I'm pretty sure dwarves count as mythical creatures also right?

kind of and kind of not. Depends what context you look at them in.

They seem to be doing so good right now, I hope they live a long happy life :(

Welcome to Dwarf Fortress.

If you see a shiny blue ore, make sure to mine it, it gives you the best quality weapons and armour.

The forgotten beasts are randomly generated creatures. Most of them are very strong. This is one I found that should not be taken lightly!
