Another newbie here.

Started with the Complete and Utter Newby Tutorial, lost interest for a while, started a new fortress in the current version lead by the Wiki's Quickstart Guide, then started a few others after I got overrun by immigrants I don't know what to do with.

My plans for the future:

1. Keep making new fortresses until I've got the basics down pat. I haven't made a militia yet, and I still have to learn the secret art of using levers. As for me evading !!Fun!! so far... Well, you have to work before you can embrace the !!Fun!!.
2. Have !!Fun!!. I already know about the HFS (TVTropes is a baaaaaad place), but those tales got me to try DF in the first place, so it's not all bad.
3. Learn to play with the original ASCII tileset instead of... Ironhand? Phoebus? Not sure, but it's pretty.
