Well, we are now available on the humble store!

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/pixelpiracy_storefront

And no, that isn't the big announcment!

Also, we'll be on there with a DEEP discount tomorrow!
Where is the discount? I see it discounted on Steam, but not the Humble Store.

Been playing a lot more lately, I have some observations:

1) Micromanaging fishing rods is a pain in the booty.

2) I accidentally hit Exit Game after getting really lucky in an encounter, "fortunately" it automatically saved the game. For real, game was ruined as most of my crew was mid-grapple and upon reload they simply fell and drowned.
(So, basically, saved game should include grapple information instead of letting people fall down and die?)

I've had success equiping the entire crew with fishing rods and beating enemies with them...not sure if it will work in the long run but I can take down level 4 pirate ships without any losses...not to mention near unlimited food.

that is if you dont get blown off their ships by their cannons.

cannons need major tweaking not to mention ship repair

I'm having trouble with feeding my pirates. Does a stack of meat have to be prepared entirely or are they prepared one portion at a time? Or is it that you can't have a cook actively cooking a food source and have pirates eat at the same time?  I have a barrel full of fish and my cook stands there preparing food, but the rest of my pirates stand around and starve to death. I try going to taverns and my pirates still stand around and starve to death. Do the npc pirates that you haven't hired eat tavern food? Or is it that my pirates are too busy drinking to bother eating? I see their morale bar go from 99-100 over and over, so I'm not sure if it is a case they are prioritizing booze over food, or if it's just a matter of the tavern food being depleted.
I think pirates have their own stock of $$$ that they use to pay for food; they won't be able to buy it unless you pay their salaries.
The booze I figure comes from NPC pirates buying the newcomers drinks.

You can't have someone cooking and someone eating from the same foodsource. Maybe try ordering the cook away and hoping someone else gets back there before he does?

Or set up another food source, you can still place food on your ship without docking.

I just got this about an hour ago after watching some gameplay.

One thing I hate, that has killed me three times now, is that when your crewmembers are hit, they forget about your last order and start fighting. I could have easily escaped my death a few times, but the captain charged back in and got stabbed.

Yeah, this has caught me out a few times too, because someone would get hit and knocked back, then decide it would be a good idea to take a shot at a different enemy. Splitting your damage can be lethal xD

For those who want the game, but haven't been able to pick it up yet, the developer has gotten in touch with a bunch of let's players (myself included) and arranged to give out a huge amount of game keys! You can read their announcement of the giveaway here: http://steamcommunity.com/games/264140/announcements/detail/1783731455572034445

But in a nutshell, beyond a few general rules laid out in the above post, each channel handles their own giveaway as they please. There aren't any restrictions on entering the giveaway on multiple (or all) of the channels involved, thus increasing your chances :)

For those who're interested, here is a direct link to the first video dealing with the giveaway on my channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIS-cHkvvBg

the food and morale in the game is really bad... Really wish it would just update hunger and morale during travel, i shouldn't be worrying about my whole crew starving to death just because i have them run accross an island or sent one out to a shop.

Plus it would stop that non-stop rushing aspect of the game and give you a little more time to breathe.

Which back when I played the largest issue was just how unforgivingly narrow the game was.

You had a certain amount of cash but the money didn't matter because you always had to buy the same unit, then do the same encounters to try to get to the higher levels, and stuff.

I assume the game has since been fixed... but back then the game has absolutely no breathing room which made the game brutally unfun at times. It was why the "noobie start" was something I felt should have been integrated as the typical start (back then), because it allowed a bit more flexibility so you could individualize how your starting game went.

You can just pretty much hang around any port fishing for free food and occasionally sending everyone to the pub for morale.

Yeah the first skills you gotta buy is fishing and cooking.

While I can't say I've tried this, as I tend to record when I play (and sitting at an island fishing does not an entertaining video make!) but I strongly suspect this would be a good way to solve any hunger/moral issues between longer voyages. Especially if the place has a food shop, as even with one skilled fisherman you will end up catching way more than you need, though with a large crew, you might want two fishermen to be safe. Either way, you could happily sell off the excess fish.

Not only that, if your crew are hanging out at the tavern a lot, they'll occasionally get fed. It's uncommon but happens enough to help a little, or you could have them idle at the blacksmith, where occasionally they'll upgrade your weapons. I'm not sure if there are any other shops that help with that. But if you have training items on your ship, then you could happily just hang around and let your crewmen grind up their skill levels for a few days while eating fish and getting blind drunk at the tavern!
