Thanks guys, we are off to a relatively good start. I was to be expected being sandwiched between all the holiday sales and all, but heck, we are on steam, we are selling our early access product, we got Desura users steam keys and we are having absolutely lovely feedback.

People enjoy the game and hate the difficulty, so we will be toning it down in upcoming patches and even add an easier mode which will let you save.

That way the game will cater to Niche hardcore players, and to general players as well.

Thoughts=?

More options you have in a game, the better.

Saving is a good thing in any game that is intended to be long. Hell, you can save in both Nethack and Dungeon Crawl.

Holy crap, why did I not start watching One Punch Man earlier? This is the best thing.
probably figured an autobiography wouldn't be interesting

I don't really see a good reason not to let people save. I doubt that it would be feasible to complete the game in one sitting.

Is there even completion, at this point?

No completion nope, hence the lack of a save. There's a good 5-6 hours of content for sure but if you were to be able to save you guys would steamroll the game at this point!

Single save is OK, no save is not.

Not being able to save at all is not hardcore, it's just a waste of time.  It really looks like you're trying to artificially lengthen the game by not letting people save.

Many, many people will not be able to sit down and play 5-6 hours in a sitting. You're pricing yourself out of a lot of repeat players without a save system in, even if it's just "save and exit."

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Wait I'm confused, I literally just loaded a saved game in Pixel Piracy.

Interestingly, Armok's name actually originates from arm_ok, a variable in one of Toady's earlier games that kept track of how many of your arms weren't missing.

Hi, folks!  To celebrate the release of Pixel Piracy on Steam, Alex is generously donating FOURTEEN keys for a Bay12 giveaway.  Solifuge and I will be hosting, so watch out for a thread to pop up sometime in the next couple days :D  We'll link back here as well, of course.

Re: Pixel Piracy On Steam and Desura now. Huge Patch just came out!
« Reply #777 on: January 11, 2014, 02:00:57 pm »

Hey everyone, we just released a MASSIVE patch to the game on Steam, if you want to chat about it feel free to do so!

It introduces SKILLS as opposed to CLASSES.

There are no longer any classes in the game, everything is a skill, I.E Cleaning poop costs 5 tp, mapmaking, combat passives etc also have their cost in TP, and your pirate will only get 5 tp a level, so it's up to you to both purchase the skill books and decide who gets them.

TP is also used to increase base stats (STR,AGI, VIT,END, LUCK, INT) which have a BIG impact on your pirates, so it's a double-edged sword!
