Hm, you should try to lighten up the solid blocks of the ship. It looks like the ship is made of coal or -insert another dark material here-, instead of wooden planks.

@Meta , oh don't you worry, there are going to be at least 20 different types of wood . Keep in mind we are doing this in a modular fashion, with CONTENT being added upon completion of said module.

I.E Once the SAILING module (ship + water + sailors + 3d sails + navigation) works, we WILL be adding the content that will ultimately knock your socks off.

You see, it's relatively easy to script in new items into the game, and as what you are implying are ultimately texture + palette swaps it'd be little work.

But only if the module PROPER is working at 110% before then, as IF IT ISN'T we might unintentionally insert a bug or two .

Patience, and I promise I'm making a note of it!

Is there going to be support for external modding of modules, then? Are you going to be using B12 as slave labor allowing players to churn out content?

I'm going to stress this point. While I LOVE and ADORE DF to bits. I am NOT going to have it re-made in any way/shape/form.

I will not take any inspiration, direct or indirect from it. This game is it's own thing, and I wouldn't want to shoe-horn things from my favorite game in here just because. It's uncouth and would only work IF/WHEN the game itself lended to it. But since this game plays in a different style I guess we are just going to have to stick to saying that my NEXT game MIGHT have a few "grand scheme of things" surprises in it that might interest you. BUT I might have a few DF easter eggs in it ofc.

Now having said that:

The game will be chalk full of randomized rogue-like goodness, and I feel you all will like it, or at the very least NOT hate it, which in itself is a good thing with such a hard-core crowd. Being a realist I'm not going to sit here and spoon-feed you guys crap to make you think this is the second coming of sliced bread, the game is good, solid, and polished, and it's up to you as consumers to debate on the quality of the title, not me as a creator to force you to accept my views on it .
