Where the hell is the download for this?

I even resorted to using Ctrl+F to look for 'download', but I got nothing.

it isn't released.

Ah. That explains a bit.

When the person said that they'd been working on something, I thought it was a regular forum member, not the game designer >.>

He is both. He registered back in 2010. It's just that he posts here rarely, numbering 365 posts as of right now.

Posting to watch this, because it looks...pretty awesome. I love pirates, DF, and FTL, so this should go well.

The graphics look a little weird. Did you take photos of the computer screen, or is that some sort of weird filter???

Also will it be free or will I have to

Sort of interested.

And yeah, the pics do look like you photographed your screen with your phone.

My interest isn't high because frankly... nothing REALLY has been announced here.

The main crux and "gameplay" features of the game have yet to reveal themselves.

Which my motto is that whenever someone sells a game to you, it isn't your job to fill in the gaps.

All I know is that it is a game with pirate ships, pirates with a set of skills and randomized stat points, and islands that differ in appearance and size.

As well many of the features listed are sort of nothing special. Theme Hospital had randomized skills as well.

The value of the game as I see it will lie in its execution and not in its current roster of features and planned features.

Gameplay is still being nailed down while we build around it. But here's the basics,

You get to build your boat, limited at first due to cash restarints.

You use said boat to sail a LARGE map, finding events every day on the way.

Events can be passive, agressive, and probably some form of diplomatic. There will be a few ways around most.

You have to handle the ship's food resources, setting people to different ship jobs.

Islands can contain treasure, towns, tribals, and MANY events.

The events PROPER are there to add flavor and break up travel gameplay, and we want to make thousands of them ranging from the simple to the easter egg insane.

I'll go ahead and update the main post with this and will continue to do so as it comes along!

I love the idea of FTL on a pirate ship.

Is it going to be more sandboxy, or is there likely to be a story/ending?

NO ending, NONE, infinite, it's basically leading the life of your pirate ship.

Sounds pretty damned interesting and there's a YT video on the homepage, FIY.

Also, since it's early in development, I'm guessing we'll be waiting quite a bit for this :(

Now when the natives put a voodoo curse on you, does that increase the chances of facing the Flying Dutchman? Because I seem to bump into him a lot.

no comment on the flying dutchmen or voodoo curse.. fine they are in, jeez you guys just know how to get me to spill the beans ;).

I'm actually quite glad that Neonivek isn't AGAINST the game. I know him and the fact that his only complaints are regarding the lack of overt gameplay is refreshing! Thanks bro!

This sounds pretty cool, I'll certainly take a look at this once it's released, especially since it's made by a bay 12 member!

It looks pretty sweet but I'm getting on the "dat bloom ugly" boat too.  It looks like you took the screenshots with an actual camera.
