Okay, so, I saw this in the Humble Store for 0.99€, and realized I was still very much on the fence as to whether or not to pick it up (and leaning over on the "nah" side of the fence at that).
I remember playing around with this back in the early days of its development and having a bunch of fun, waiting eagerly for the next update to come out. Personally, I think it went to paid distribution a bit too early, and checking on Steam it's not even listed as "early development", which considering how it was back then (and according to everything I've heard and seen so far on the store pages now), was also a bit of a mistake.
I really do understand the dev wanting to get some form of return on all the hard work he's put into this project so far, and I haven't a clue how strapped he was for cash at that time, so maybe it was more of a necessity than anything else in order for development to at all continue.
But looking at it now, particularly the Steam page, there's really only one thing I can say for certain... This game desperately, DESPERATELY needs better marketing.
More than any of the reviews or anecdotal comments about the game having taken some design decisions that I don't personally agree with, what pushes me most away from the game is how it's presenting itself now. From the Steam title splash to the bizarre addition of "Open World" to the title and the trailer I just found on the Humble store, I can quite frankly say I'm not too keen on spending even the pocket change I'd need to shell out for a copy right now.
If you guys really want to boost your sales, putting up 90% sales is really only going to make things look worse in its current state. It's funny to think about how much of a difference it would make, but this game severely needs to present a better image to prospective customers.
I mean, like I said... I tried this out way back before cannons were even a thing, and I loved the shit out of the buggy, not-at-all finished mess it was back then. And I'M skeptical.
