Looks sweet! Altough the map texture looks a bit... odd. More like sattelite images than a pirate map, you know?

Hmm,will the world map be static, or dynamic. I mean will ships move on it and similar, or there will be static encounters like the red dots that you can visit.

yeah i have the same issue with the world map, it's bound to change.

And the ships are not only dynamic, but changing. You can find a group that levels up a lot and ends up being a force to be reckoned with.

Just a little thing with games like this I must ask.

Will there be a quick battle mode?

As in a menu option that lets you set up the ship design of two or more ships and pit them against each other, either AI v AI or Human v AI.

If so, then the time I will spend on this game after I have played it to death(Which will probably be a long time) will have an extra time due to how we could have liiiiike

A dingy with a very experienced crew attacking a ship with royalty on board, with the mission of assassinating the king.

That's insanely kickass. I always love games where you're only one entity among many entities, and they can play in the same way than you, meaning that some of them might get bigger, faster.

I also seems like you're going back to adding too much postprocessing stuff and effects. I feel the more pixely and cutesy graphics are charming by themselves, and don't really play well with super modern visual styling. Either it's retro, or it's super stylised, but right now it seems like you're getting a few beans from two opposite sides of the visuals spectrum. Just personal opinion though :)

I think it was mentioned earlier in the thread about some other people from other, non-Bay12, places preferring the post-processing stuff.

Really like the exploration map, that was the kind of overarching exploration component I was looking for.

My problem with the excess post-processing is that it makes the whole screen look fuzzy and washed-out.  You went to all the trouble of making those nice little sprites, and they turn all blurry.

Otherwise, oh man am I suddenly looking forward to this.

Yeah, the postprocessing blur is a little silly.

My other problem with the new sprites is that there seems to be a huge contrast in resolution between elements. Most of the stuff is in the low-res retro style, but things like the clouds, sun, and sails are much higher-res, and it's kind of jarring.

I personally like the contrast.
I hope it stays in.

You are amazing my friend. Truly, truly amazing.

An indiestatik review of the PRE-Alpha tech build! The fact that the game warrants an entire article based on nothing more than a tech build is really awesome for us!
