Perhaps this was covered earlier, but how much customization will there be? I remember that you can make your own ship. What about flags, your pirates (at least the names), or whatever?

Will you be able to make your own towns and ports? Will the economy be good based (IE, raid a ship for all its rum and then sell it) or gold based (Instead of transporting goods, ships just transport gold or currency)? What are you planning on for the end game, after you've trained up your men and perfected your ship?

Also, how will you get around those islands?

As someone who has wanted a side-scrolling pirate rpg ever since playing terraria, this is looking awesome.  How did you guys come up with the concept?  I'm reminded graphics-wise of KAG(King arthurs gold)  and Engine-wise of Survival Crisis Z(A lot more obscure:http://thegamehippo.com/game/36).

Well, heavy doses of king of dragon pass, loads of ftl, the let down fallout from star command, and those truly fun roguelike moments given to us by dwarf fortress and TOME had something to do with it.

BEAR IN MIND we took nothing from any of them, mind you we are not going to be one of those "draws 75% of it's inspiration from X game" copy/pasta jobs, I UNDERSTAND them, I APPRECIATE them (sometimes vanilla with SPRINKLES is better than standard vanilla, I get it!), but this'll be a different flavor all on it's own.

Having said that, it's impossible to make a game nowadays without having some semblance to a different game. We'll just not be blatantly copying anything, that's all!
