It is a map of Europe and west Asia in the ancient times. Don't know the exact date.

Does it involve different units?

Yeah, no air, rename tanks to calvary, militia to Hoplite, and Destroyer to attack boat(or something similar to that).

Similar to the LoTR one; militia is still militia, same with infantry, but tanks are cavalry, marines are rangers, no submarines, destroyers are galleons, and no air units.

Sad for no eagles/fellbeasts, but it makes sense.

The time I played it, I took Arnor and pretty much everyone else was south or east, so I had free range to expand from the sea to the Misty Mountains all the way down to that south-western peninsula(there was someone there, but I'd offered peace and they were weak). After that, I allied the people on the other side of the Misty Mountains, and waited, giving him funding when a guy who started in Rhun began wiping him out. Then I slowly advanced, becoming a financial behemoth, and the game finally ended when the last two players, both of whom I was allied with(Minas Tirith and Harad) were fighting, the Mirkwood guy had left, I'd cleaned out Mordor, and just waited to see who killed the other one. Minas Tirith won.

But it also made me realize the true way Sauron was defeated: a warlord in Arnor slaughters everything as he conquers from Carn Dum to Helm's Deep and the Grey Havens to Moria, then sends in every Numenorean Knight in the fuck-huge realm to clean house in Mordor.

I've got a feeling that Tolkien would have said that was not as dramatic and cool as his version.

I would be very interested in joining the next game of this when it starts up. I might not end up checking this thread when it does start up, so if it is at all possible, a PM from the game creator when it starts would be greatly appreciated.
I am also of this kind of interest.

Okay, this is really annoying and makes no sense. Even when I do something as my very first action in a turn, Shadenight is always the one who gets to attack my tanks, rather than vice-versa.

It's probably the order of your turns.

I think Shadenight joined before you so the game does his actions first.

It sucks to join late.

Berlin
"I hear there's good news?"
"The war has started in earnest."
"Results?"
"Almost entirely victories for us. The one Indian victory was far more Pyrrhic and less gainful for them than it could have been. We are moving large numbers of troops into their territory."
"Ah, excellent. Blitzkrieg is working quite well."
"I was a bit worried, given how that worked in...you know...the Third Reich."
"No genocide, no megalomania, and panzers can attack on others' orders. No worries."
"Indeed. Eurasia save for Mongolia and Italy is under the Powers' control. India is not expected to survive; after that, perhaps a little shifting, but the general form should be good."
"Excellent. Well, head off. You know what to do."
"Yes, sir."

Maybe it's because I have Relentless Attack?
Anyway, it's clear that Russian Tanks are Superior Tanks.
