In my first it was a UN game, and I was China. I just cowered and everyone left me alone.

My second game I was Turkey and we were playing an 1812 sort of thing, with just Europe and Asia. I took over all of Russia and Eastern Europe, and was just wiping out Persia (who had been my ally the whole game but after being stonewalled by china the entire time decided it would be smart to attack my capital) and China, and preparing to invade Spain and France, when everyone surrendered to me.

Aaaand it's begun. I was looking at the spread of countries, trying to find a space in there. As such, I have joined as the Glorious Strong People's State of....

Iceland.

This can only go well.  ;D

I really should learn some German at some point, about half of my ancestors are German and I've got some Austrian and such as well.

Russia: South - 0539 Hours - Friday
Premier Vladik Ramonov, dressed in his statesman's uniform, eases back in the leather chair in his office, puffing on a fat cigar. A cold breeze blew in through the open window, stinging his bare face. The cold air felt good, and he enjoyed the sensation, painful as it was. It woke him up, cleared his head, reminded him of his position, of his people, that he was a true Russian. He closed his eyes and listened to the howling wind..

The phone rang.

He opened his eyes and leaned forward, swearing under his breath as he tapped the ash from the cigar and set it down in a nearby tray. He reached for the phone and picked up the handle, pressing it to his ear. да. A practiced scowl grew on his face. Что вы имеете в виду? He switched to english, his accent was heavy, but the man on the other line understood it better than Russian. That can't be right! You told me we would have the men ready to move out today! He stabbed at his desk with one large finger. не! No! I refuse! You have your money! Just get them here now! He shouted the last word directly into the receiver before slamming the phone back into its cradle and running both hands over his weathered features. He glanced at a bank of red phones at the far end of his large desk, each one marked with dark black letters on a stark white background, each one with a direct line to one of the world's mightiest leaders.

Iceland, Germany, Turkey, India..

He sighed and picked up the first phone, then looked at the clock. 0541. It was going to be a long day.

Reykjavik
--
President Hafnar walked through the streets of his bustling capital. He proudly looked around at the crowds of happy, healthy citizens, listening to the noise of everyday life.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

A voice called out from the crowd:
"Ahy, Hafnar! Hvað er tíminn?"

"Hverjum er ekki sama?" He replied, smiling. "Hvert skipti er hamingjusamur tími!"

Reaching his Presidential mansion and climbing the immaculate white stairs, he was immediately greeted by his military adviser at the door. He was an Englishman, and as such was not relaxed despite the happy mood.
"Sir, the World powers have started to mobilise their armies. As I have said countless times, perhaps now would be a good time to raise an army and gain some land?" Seeing the look on Hafnar's face, he quickly added: "Only to make the people there happy, of course."
Hafnar sighed. The man had been badgering him for a while now.
"Well then my good friend, do we have any such army to be doing any such things?"
The man shifted.
"Not exactly sir... But we can very soon!"
"Well then why bring this up now?" Hafnar replied, satisfied that he had 'won' this encounter. "Looks like you will have to ask me another 'countless times'." Hafnar replied, before pushing past the man and going upstairs to run a cold, soothing bath.

Back downstairs, the adviser sighed. So much to do, nobody else willing to do it. With that thought he walked off to make the necessary military arrangements. And maybe get Hafnar some more English lessons while he was at it.

“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.

Berlin

((All-English for convenience.))

"How is the war effort going?"
"If no unusual events occur, we should have Poland secured within the month. Barring such events, we should have Western Europe secured before the year's out, albeit with cleanup taking quite a bit longer."
"Diplomatic circumstances?"
"Six other notable leaders, including two on opposite ends of Russia. They've got a civil war, it seems, and while West Russia is staying out of wars, East Russia is allied with us and Turkey. No diplomatic relations with the Indians or the Chinese, but the Icelanders have emerged, claiming neutrality as the West Russians have."
"Any interference likely from the Asians? Or, for that matter, the Icelanders or Russians?"
"Unless East Russia calls us in to help with the war effort, I don't see any issues from them--Turkey and West Russia are in the way. Iceland's likely to contest us over Scandanavia or England, or both, but it'll take them a bit to get here. We are pretty close to getting in a conflict with West Russia, though...we don't know their troop movement plans, but they're about as likely to go to the Ukraine as anywhere."
"We don't know much, do we?"
"Not yet."
"...Tell me honestly, what do you think the end result of all of this will be?"
"Hegemony over Europe."
"Excellent."
"I'm not ready to guess whose yet, however..."
