Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You stare out over the once empty fields that are now crowded with neatly arrayed tents, rows of massive troop carriers, and the thriving masses of the newly raised troopers moving about down below you think of your life on this planet and your life to come. The sound of the door slamming snaps you away from the window of the tower. turning around you see a man of middling height with grey hair ... and one green eye, the other is a metal ball with a large red sensor swiveling about surveying the room. Tubes, supports, and wires run from the eye to outside and then back into the skull, however the most important feature of the man is the unique cap on his head bearing the symbol of a Commissar.

"Pleasure to meet you Colonel Castronova, I am Commissar-General Kalman Fidel, and I've been assigned to oversee the three regiments being founded today along with accompanying yours on its future missions. Now come with me, the men are already packing their gear and boarding the dropships as we speak since Command has already given the Volgar 1st, 2nd, and 3rd deployment orders to the Galin Prime Subsector."

With that the man turns and leaves the room with you close behind, the few meager possessions you have gathered in the bags on your back as you follow the winding stairs up the rest of the tower. As you come out onto the roof of the tower the first thing you see is the aquila emblazoned on the side of the lander in front of you, taking one last look at the world you are leaving behind you climb aboard the lander behind the Commissar-General.

The inside is rather cramped, as its space is filled with the leaders, and second in commands of all three regiments along with the usual assortment of crew and even a pair of armed servitors standing near the back of the lander. As you take your seat, and the lander takes off heading for orbit the Commissar-General speaks up over the roar of the engines,

"So Colonel Castronova, the trip to Galin Prime is going to take awhile and your men will need something to do, any plans for them during the trip? From what I've noticed they could use a bit of training with the machines, and equipment of the Imperium, and getting to know them yourself might help morale now that they're living all they've ever known behind. Its your choice of course, if you have any questions feel free to ask."

With that he fell silent allowing you to think of what to do in the coming days ...

Run massed fire drills with the infantry squads, promote the best soldier in each squad to sergeant, have the veterans assist with the drilling.

Walk around and meet all the soldiers, have your personal guard offer tips to soldiers as we go.

Attempt MRSI training drills for the Centaur tanks. Ie, concentrated fire on a single location by timing multiple volleys so they arrive at the same moment.

This. And we should try to get to know the men (and let the men know us).

(( It's an overcharged lasgun basically, higher power and fires a lot faster but it requires a lot more skill to use effectively, only karskin squads we're armed with them. ( Veteran guardsmen. ) ))

(( I'm not a big fan of the guard, but from playing winter assault and soulstorm I know most of the important details.

How will getting no forces and equipment happen later in the game? ))

Your forces will be replenished when you are finished in any warzone, depending on the conditions of your departure (victory, defeat, etc.) the amount can vary from a full replacement to only a handful of soldiers. As for equipment, some you'll get from salvaging while the rest will come from requisitioning gear from the Munitorum or being gifted it in some way.

(( Ahhh ok thanks, once we've done some fighting we'll probably need to requisition more flak armor and hotshot lastguns, as well as more armored transports. ))

In fact we are going to need a lot of everything. We are very small for an infantry regiment, so we'll need some quality. You know, it would be nice for our red shirts to actually have their red shirts. Just so we aren't used as red shirts by the other red shirts. (Imperial Guard, providing employment for former members of Captain Kirk's crew since the aftermath of the Horus Heresy.)

I've modified the regiment slightly giving it around 400~500 more soldiers since someone pointed out to me a siege regiment kinda needs engineers, and I felt six autocannons was far to few for a siege regiment :P On another note I have the update mostly finished so its coming soon.
