Darn thats gonna complicate using them when we have to assign each priest every time we move into a fight.

But anyway I vote for #2.

And so, here at the end of days, you are as you’ve always been. Willing to die. Not willing to quit.

Vengeance is mine saith the Lord but this morning. He's going to fucking well have to share.

Is she worth it, would you burn the city to save her? For her, I'd burn the world.

… a broken lance and an intact arrow crossed, both orange, on a field of white, with a black border. Superimposed atop the shattered lance and arrow is the regimental number, and group commendations would be arranged on the right, and the sign of the Aquila would be placed in the bottom left corner.

This, but with a sword and a lasgun crossed, instead of the lance and arrow.

a spade and a sword crossed, gold on a grey field. Atop the sign is the regimental number. Major Victories in the form of Medals are hefted to the Bottom and Sides of the Standard (in this case the Single one of Salix Major). The Aquila is of course made of massive gold and sits atop the standard similiar to the old roman ones.

As the transit to the next warzone draws into its final phases you and the commanders of the Volgar 1st, and 2nd are called into Kalman's war room once again. You have the same nervous feeling as you had the first time he called you in for a briefing that you had during the briefing for Salix's defense that seems to be years past now. As you walk into the war room you see servitors, tacticians, and other Munitorum staff bustling about the banks of computers and displays that line the outer walls of the room, down at the bottom of the room Kalman and Cadet Commissar Malkom stand at the far side of the hololithic display from you.

With the three of you now gathered around the table Kalman starts up with the briefing, an image of rolling hills and a few towering lone mountains scattered throughout appears on the hololith.

"After the events on Salix, the Warmaster's army of tacticians has seen this as one of the next vital steps of the war, the Yalgo System contains eight planets and dozens of moons and asteroid bases where loyal Imperial citizens reside. The key world of this system is Caprica, an Agri-world that supplies around fifty percent of the food exports of this sector, and its because of this world that the Enemy is making their move. The system's tithes are to be sent in a month's time, and that means currently they have a massive stockpile of food, ores, and whatever else they export and give to the tithes sitting in docks, and stations ripe for the taking.

The Enemy will have been in the system for nearly a week by the time we arrive and deploy, but luckily their need for this food mostly intact will have slowed their assault down. While they may have captured a few stockpiles of exports the main stores will be in the capital cities which the systems PDF forces, levies, and whatever else they've managed to scrounge together have been able to keep a hold of according to our last reports from them. Of the twelve regiments deployed to counter act the assault seven are being sent to Caprica, two to the mining bases and moon colonies, and the Volgar are being sent to the hellhole of Sewei.

Its a frozen hell whose surface is ravaged by unpredictable icestorms, and blizzards that force all of its inhabitants into underground shelters and cities which are in turn connected to the worlds vast cavern system. You three are being dispatched to the world's capital 'city' Feldast, we're not sure of the exact condition of the city but once we drop you onto the surface your task is to get underground and get to the city. Retake the thing if the Enemy has taken it first or defend it if they miraculously haven't.

Any questions or are we ready to go land ourselves in a cold hell?"

Who's the enemy again? Cultists or just general renegades?

Well then. Let's get down there. Can't assault the city before we get on the ground after all; we aren't a Drop Regiment.

Righto. Just make sure the men pack in the long underwear.  :P

Nope, nothing else comes to mind. Presuming that our men have at least enough equip to survive at least a couple of hours on the surface. We might need to do so, if we need to regroup or storm an enemy infested entrance.

Funnily enough, this is where those shields that were suggested would have come in very handy...

Not really. This is going to be tunnel fighting, so you'd need all movement you can get. Most likely, they'll stuff some heavy weapon on the end of the tunnels, and pick them of there.

Still, it's an idiocy to send a siege regiment to recapture an underground city, where we can't use most of our weapons. (Mortars use angled fire, so unless these guys have an unusually spacious interior...)

Question: Is retaking the city needed, or is preventing the enemy from using it good enough. Otherwise we can just collapse it from above.

You need to retake the city (that is if it has even been captured), and only your mortars need an angle (well you could technically rig them to fire straight down tunnels but that would take a bit of work and some fortifications to place them in so they stay at the right angle), the Basilisks can fire straight on and can act as improvised tanks if need be. The supplies in the city are vital for the Imperium and must be secured or retaken at all costs.

In that case since we need to retake supplies and reduce potential collateral damage:

Requisition Chemical Weaponry for the Artillery and Gasmasks for our men, we gonna smoke em out!

Also, Ask if any cold-weather clothing is available.
I don't like the idea of being locked outside by the cultists.

I would ask why fire can burn two men to death without getting hot enough to burn a book, but then I read "INEXTINGUISHABLE RUNNING KAMIKAZE RADIOACTIVE FLAMING ZOMBIE" and realized that logic, reason, and physics are all occupied with crying in the corner right now.
