A little undead problem
« on: July 13, 2013, 09:32:02 am »

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

One kitten got thralled -> awesome militia captain with full armor and iron long sword saw it and charged -> got thralled too -> they started to kill things -> more things got thralled -> lockdown -> dwarf caravan got thralled.

Any... ideas how to proceed? I have fully functioning fort with decent military, but only 92 dwarves. This messed my plans to become mountainhome and kill some elves (in this world, there is just one dwarf civ and it's constantly raided by elves - they have killed a king like very single year). Do I have any hope to reclaim the surface? Or is this case lost?

The dust in contagenous - my swordsdwarf got thralled in melee combat, not by dust cloud itself. Since only ways to kill them are bisection, decapitation, cave-in and... does atom smashing work?

My embark is a mountainside, so I have enough natural walls to build some kind of cave-in trap. If atom smashing works to those thing, it could also be useful. It's a shame that magma doesen't kill those.

Yeah, probably best to ditch the surface until you can get dwarven medicine on the case. Specifically, a light dose of lava.

According wiki, magma won't work.

Ezum Bloodblade has leveled up - now he is an elite wrestler. Odd, wiki said also that husks wouldn't gain any experince anymore. He has also named his shield after half-year battle againts horse thralls. Yeah, thralls are killing each other now. There was also four goblin ambushes. Their axemen actually scored kills, mainly on smaller thralls like kittens and peachicks. For Ezum and horses ando ther big thralls I'm constructing Dwarven Mountain Smasher aka long corridor where I lure the thralls and then drop many levels of mountain wall into their heads.

An atom smasher to handle the thralls, and if you aren't averse to it, dfhack clean all command.

and the thralls are attacking each other because they were thralled at different times. If everything got thralled at once, they would be friendly to each other

Magma won't kill the thralls because body parts don't have melting or boiling points. It should, however, boil or melt the contaminants, which would render them sterile.

It MIGHT set them on fire, though. I don't know. Atom smashers are your best bet, really.

The kitten probably would have killed your awesome militia commander anyway.
