Can I get more water out of my brook by mining it?
« on: June 12, 2008, 11:40:00 pm »

I'm finding that my brook's water level often falls below the 7/7 I would very much like to keep my water level at. If I mine the brook tiles out, making them Open Space, will the Brook become a river?

No, at least I don't think so. The only purpose for brook tiles, if I remember correctly, is so that there can be walk-over-able water.

Damn. It's no good to me if it depletes, or gets low. I need a STRONG infinate water source!  :(

I guess if you drained enough water out of it at once, it would stop the flow. But generally, you only need a single-square tube to direct away enough water to fill a fortress' usual power and water requirements.

Well, brooks ARE infite water sources, they just don't seem to deliver as much water as a river or even a major river.

Ah... See, I built a castle directly atop the brook, and channeled out from the walls to form the moat. I wanted it to be full all the time, and I could use it for things like drowning traders and such.

I guess I'll just settle for an underground river and pump upwards, then.  :)
