"Now then, mountaindweller. I have destroyed thousands, brought down entire civilizations, and defeated death himself, yet here you are to brave me alone, without even the help of your mechanical monstrosities. Such courage impresses me .

Now tell me why you're here, and I might happen unto someone else. "

-1 to anything evil or aggressive

How about:
"Hey! I'm not 'upon' anyone. I'm just trying to get a job, establish a company and then renovate a few fortresses so that I can sell confectionery from them. What's so bad about that? Anyway, since that name is still well-known, do you think I should put that on my resume? Also, who legally owns my tomb? Am I allowed to rent it out to people?
And yes, mountaindweller. I have destroyed thousands, brought down entire civilizations, massacred countless armies, brought eternal ruinous winter and defeated death himself. But you know, you can't stay in the same job forever. I mean, sure I was infamous, feared and all that but the hours were horrible and there wasn't any opportunities for promotion. Anyway, why's that so much of a big deal? Here you are to brave me alone, without even the help of your mechanical monstrosities. I mean, if I was that bad you wouldn't have approached me, right?"

Going from full evil to quite nice won't work. I mean, we're so culturally entrenched in their histories, and I doubt they understand us decently, that they'll just treat us as an impostor, or a mad ghost.

On a side note, since we're dealing with -1's anyway.

They have jetpacks. Functional jetpacks that work for more than 8 seconds and barely ever flip out and kill the user when he's not being accidentally mindraped by a skeletal abomination. What makes you think flavoured ice is anacronistic?

We were frozen for 5000 years. What makes you think we know about any of these new ideas. Hell, if the history is at all similar, we're older than writing, or the majority of civilizations. We've probably been deified or something.

Calm down the dwarf, explain that we mean no harm and that whatever past crimes we have committed, we would be glad to atone for them.

Then, after they trust us, we stab them in the back.

Yeah, but we might have just thought up the idea of frozen-confectionery. We haven't done anything that indicated that we knew about the existence of ice-cream we merely indicated that we had an idea that involved making frozen foods.

1) Frozen confectionaries have been around for thousands of years IRL.
2) When we were around, they had swords and arrows. They had writing, in more than one language, and sufficient trade that those written languages spread. They had paintings.
3) I forget what I was going to say here. Possible edit later.

1) We have been around for 3000 years more.
2) Which would indicate an unusually slow progression of technology. Probably a few incidents, that knocked them back to the beginnings.

The existence of frozen confectioneries is not a problem since we are intending to invent them. Hence we are assuming that they do not exist and that we will develop the first ones. Therefore, whether or not we could have known about them has no relevance.

1) We have been around for 3000 years more.
We also have the ability to make ice out of thin air. That would drastically increase the chances of it being used for things like deliciousness.

2) Which would indicate an unusually slow progression of technology. Probably a few incidents, that knocked them back to the beginnings.
How do you know?

A valid point.

It's hard to speak about things when you don't even know what it is. Also, you can't intent to invent something.

1) We have been around for 3000 years more.
We also have the ability to make ice out of thin air. That would drastically increase the chances of it being used for things like deliciousness.
Not really. Supply of ice isn't the problem. I mean, glaciers and stuff exist, and storing ice to cool food is a fairly common practice. Also, winter. In fact, the ability to freeze things at will would actually decrease the chance of developing frozen confectionaries, as it tremendously decreases the need for them. (Don't need refreshments to keep you cool when you can just decrease temperature.)

Whoops, miscalculation.

Anyway, the current course of actions will likely result in them thinking of us as an imposter, or just plain mad.

We are, at least as far as we know, inventing frozen confectioneries. We obviously haven't heard of it yet since we'll be the ones who are the first to create it.

You're making a number of fairly large assumptions there, not to mention that you ignored the fact I specifically said we have the ability to make it out of thin air.

Anyway, the current course of actions will likely result in them thinking of us as an imposter, or just plain mad.
To the first: Yes, you're right, they likely often encounter ice covered animated dragon skeletons claiming to be the legendary Harbinger of Cold right outside the tomb of said legendary dragon right when it's scheduled to be freed from imprisonment in its own corpse. Probably happens all the time.
To the second: Heavens forbid the dragon killed by heroes and bound into 5000 years of boredom might have spent some of that time thinking about legitimate ways to make money with its skillset.

Demonized, more likely...

Anyways, this dwarf at least seems to be buying it. And, let's face it, we do have a pretty good body of evidence on our side--literally, in fact.

I'm not too fond of the confectionaries path. I just want to A: Ask what our name means to him. B: Ask what the deal is with the rebellion & C: Calm the dwarf. Possibly with a shooshpap.
