I was thinking of the humanoid skeletons, but an ice "body" could help, too.

Experiment with that!

You use Aixio to cover one of your tails in solid ice, which when "enchanted" with Vitaglacia created a contraption that you easily managed to slice one of the pillars with in half. And it feels pretty comfortable, yet painless.

So we're stuck in and underground lair, at least some of which has collapsed, and we decided to destroy one of the ceiling supports.
Well, we do have the excuse that our brain rotted thousands of years ago.

Make a tiny ball of ice. Layer on some ice with about as much air as wool, then solid, then wool, and so on. When we feel satisfied with the size, try again, since that should have given us some practice with the finer bits of it. Make sure it isn't too large.

Send the icy ball into the outside world first, as a scout. The air inside should help insulate the inner layers, and stop it from all melting at once.

Would sending an ice-ball outside give us any sensory data?

+1 to scouting around, (if you look closely, I was just playing devil's advocate with the chest-golems)
Wait, do you mean the soldiers with treasure in them or the golems whose only purpose was carting treasure?
If you meant for scouting around, I meant with ourselves.
If you meant devil's advocate, I meant anything involving gold-golems.

I was with you until somewhere around the apocalypse.

More likely, the civilization of the surrounding area collapsed.
This is all assuming our little temple wasn't built out in the middle of nowhere, (which I think is most likely). If the civ (and city we're housed in) collapsed, we wouldn't have had that pile of gold in here- there would have been looters galore with the slow crumble. Plus the entrance is damaged, so that doesn't rule out a !!FUN!! event.
Since it's been 5000 years, we could have missed the golden technological age of hyper-knowledge. If we're located in a city, I'd be inclined to think something nasty happened in short order, given the preserved state of our abode. So, if the two are taken together, we may have slept through both the peak of worldly civilization & it's acute fall.

As part of guessing where we could be located, I'm just postulating a scenario which explains how we could be located in a city. (Or the remains of one.)

1. I meant the latter.

2. It was actually pretty common for monuments of various kinds to include treasure. Maybe this was a tomb for some great warrior, surrounded by his men, and including the corpse of his greatest kill and the treasure from his treasury or something.

3. 5,000 years is quite possibly not that much. It all depends on where you start from and, of course, the local environment and culture. Hyper-knowledge is possible, but I wouldn't say it's certain. And I fail to see why my guess requires us to be in a city--monuments like that are often found outside of cities.

Your sense of scale is not the finest one, as your first creation is about the size of a human skull, but the second one is much smaller, roughly the size of a //ping-pong ball. I'm also assuming you want it to roll on the floor?

You put the ball aside and begin covering yourself with ice which you eventually turn into a very unusual kind of flesh. Unless you venture out into a very hot place such as a desert or a volcano, your ancient bones should be well protected.
This does also mean that you regained your ability to fly, with a thin covering of ice stretching between your wings' bones.

Cool.

Name the little balls Snowball Scouts until we come up with a better name for them. Send them outside!

Cool.

Name the little balls Snowball Scouts until we come up with a better name for them. Send them outside!

You can see and feel your new creations slowly roll on the floor and through cracks in the rubble as they disapppear from your direct line of sight.
However, you can still feel their movement as if they were part of you. You can feel a slightly rough, but otherwise flat floor until...

You lose contact. You can't feel them again.
You send another one, with the same results - flat floor until a certain moment.

As you keep sending them, you draw a mental image of a semi-circular platform of sorts. You cannot get the balls to roll to the back or sides of this place, as it ends there.

And after a few minutes, you can feel a sharp, but short streak of pain, which ends, only to come back a few moments later multiple times.
You notice that they have a certain pattern, since you felt the pain the exact same amount of times you sent the Snowball Scouts. It also seems that it happened in the same intervals as you lost contact with them.

Whatever is outside is probably not a pretty view, but you have a feeling you need to check it.

Hm. Well, one thing first...

Create a large number of Snowball Scouts and place them atop the treasure. Add more ice to hold the treasure and Scouts in place. Repeat until the treasure room is full of ice covering the treasure.

The idea is to encase the treasure in ice that we can break with a thought, by having the Snowball Scouts all move together.

Like I said, was just trying to come up with a way we could be in a city. Again, I'd assume we must have been built 'in the boonies', but trying to figure out a way I could be wrong is a good practice. Along with what could be possible, but that's just derping around.

CLAW OUR WAY OUT, BE MINDFUL OF THE CLIFF.

I'd say just leave the treasure- it's survived 5000 years, and now that we can fly we'll (probably) be able to get back to it.

You do that, which does take a fair amount of time.
Once you're finished, you can feel the place shake about for a moment, like an earthquake of sorts. Apart from smaller rocks from the ceiling though, nothing happens.

However, the rubble that was blocking the entrance has also moved away, revealing an unusual sight of the surface...

As you leave, you can see a bright sun shine and some clouds. Nothing truly spectacular until you reach the edge.
You find yourself high up in the sky on a floating island. Below you, about a kilometer or so, there's much water and a large archipelago of islands, complete with mountains and green forests.

It's no wonder all this treasure was here and everything was perfectly preserved. Now you also know why you felt that pain - your snowball scouts must've hit the ground below hard.

Looks like you won't need to protect your treasure, as it has protected itself for a couple thousand years.

Look over edge to see what our not-servoskulls (note: build servoskulls) landed on.

Um...wow.

Test our flight abilities by flying around the floating mountain. Also, explore floating mountain.

-1.
Let's test our flight abilities via a slightly less... all-or-nothing method, shall we?
