Thing is, they were planning on using it for retribution. When I get gas, if someone attacks me fairly, I'll fight fairly. If they outnumber my forces by a huge margin that I can't possibly make up even with aid, I'll give them a chance to back off. If they have gas themselves, I'll fight fairly even if it isn't a fair fight, simply because it's no fun for two nations to gas each other back to the double digits. Gas isn't something to be used lightly, it's something you have to keep people from attacking you, and something you have incase a major power decides to fuck your shit up for no apparent reason. Most fights that aren't "lul im attacking you" wars can easily be fixed with diplomacy. Gas is a deterrent that stops people from attacking you because you look like a juicy target, and if used properly, can disarm situations that would cause heavy loss on both sides.

Still, we want to make a good impression. A lot of our members are new and poor, and we wouldn't want them to suffer from any aggression leveled against us by those angry that we've been developing chemical weapons. I think it may be a good idea for individuals, but making it seem like a collaborated effort from the richer nations in the alliance will only alienate us from the other alliances.

They won't get angry, and the only reason they're getting angry that Yotsuba is making chemical weapons is because it's a mixture of just not liking the alliance in general/not trusting them, and just to pretty much try to kick Yotsuba out of the game. No one will care if we develop chemical weapons, and it's not like we'll be on the forum bragging about it anyways.

I only meant that over time, anyone with a high enough GDP to warrant it, and is responsible, should get chemical weapons. Troop numbers in the 1000+ GDP nations can vary from 20k to almost 200k troops, and keeping 200k troops at elite is a crazy amount of money. I really believe if anyone built up chemical weapons and proceeded to use them haphazardly, Bd would probably kick them out of the alliance. Actually I think once one of us gets chemical weapons Bd will probably add a rule about them.

Finally made it to WW2 surplus and >1000m GDP, so that feels nice. I also managed to stomp both of the guys fighting me, which is even nicer.

I'm willing to buy 10k troops if anyone has them to spare.  Just send them to me and post that you did it here, and I will send you 700k.
EDIT: Nice, looks like the war I just won made me the highest GDP nation in the alliance, for now.

Nah, war is the way to go.  With some luck searching for targets, you can get 100's of GDP for pretty much free if you attack someone with 5k troops or less.
And I have wired the 700k to West Nile.

I just reached WW2 tech and I have 400mil gdp. Is it worth it to make my own industrial complex or should I side with the soviets now?

Welp, I am a pariah with growing tensions. I got pretty lucky with pig iron though. Sadly my nation possesses no oil. Just gonna sit back and wait till I am able to attack again. Anyone need to buy troops.

Crap. Apparently even attacking an isolated nation makes me go from pariah to mad dog. Anyways at least the Soviets sent me 5k troops. I killed 3000 of their 11000 guys with my 3:1 advantage but lost 1000. All our shit is equal but tech. And they are western aligned. Perhaps I should have shelled out the money I spent on oil training my guys to the middle level of training. Ah well.

I assume I will need 2 more attacks? If I kill 3000 and they drop to 5000 then I need to attack again yes? What if I kill 4000 of 8000, do I win automagically then?

To win you need to attack when the enemy has 5k or less troops.

Yeah, definitely get chemical weapons ESPECIALLY since this is Africa and you know what they say about the African Union.
Yotsuba& is just specifically disallowed from chems because they intended to use them against the people who were currently at war with them, which was half of bloc.

So I attacked a western aligned player and got 5k troops from the soviets. Do I keep these after the war? What kind of aid can I generally expect from the Soviets during war against a western aligned nation? It seems I can ask for aid each month. Assuming I can keep the soldiers I must say 5k troops is a fantastic bonus. That's a ton of growth and manpower saved.
