In the hypothetical and currently unlikely situation in which case a war is declared (by either) side between the East and West in Africa, yes.

I think it'd be a good idea to strike some agreements with our communist brethren and secure pledges of support and assistance. Subsuming our identity beneath theirs does us no good however.

And I'm not surprised if GGU is more powerful then everyone else - the Goons have a tendency to do that in anything they set their hand to.

The only major communist alliance is the Comintern, and they do their best to ensure they have good relations with the GGU and IFAP. I pretty much found out that wars in this game are less based on cold war styled ideological differences, and more based on "Who is the group of people we don't like today." or "Who said something offensive on the forums?"

Welcome to any game, ever, anywhere.  Any kind of game that is a little freeform will have this.  Unless it's a really, really RP heavy game.

There is no down side to use having any kind of agreement with anyone right now. (Well, except for the community pariahs, and most of them are to busy to even seek out a formal deal.)

You should tell the Comintern that there is more to lose from having just one large alliance over several closely tied but still independent alliances.

An example would be IFAP and NOFAP.  They could merge, but they won't because they have different leadership ideas and game play goals.  Even though they are from the same place, and they almost always work together.

Right now everyone is concerned with wiping out Yotsuba, so I don't think we'll have any wars anytime soon. The problem now with being in the 1000 range of GDP is the lack of targets.

Can Yotsuba stand against the other empires at all? Their average power seems weak.

I always wanted to be part of some sort of organization like the Goons, except not the Goons themselves, because I don't like them.

Says on the Comintern alliance page that we are defensive allies.

(Also, a proxy war against the African Legion would actually be winnable. We outnumber them in soldiers, and for tech levels it's 3 Korean War, 4 WW2, 4 WW1, and one 19th century.

For anyone too lazy to look at the spreadsheet, basically if we joined with Com we would make up about 1/3 of their total GDP, but we would drop the average GDP by about 100 (from our perspective our average GDP would go up about 200). The only major alliances (other than Yotsuba) that would trump us would be INNAWDS (who has no leadership(and only by ABOUT 10000) and the GGU (who would be about 2.3x ComUBA's size).

edit: I think mainly Com wants us to merge because they have a total of 6 nations in Africa. We are virtually all stationed in Africa, and it would easily mean that they would go from being virtually non-existent in Africa to being a major player in the area.

edit2: Oh by the way, this is how the forums see us (go to history of africa)

The UBA - Large, militarily active, but not very active on the political forums. Its power is much less than it seems due to its high proportion of low GDP members.

edit3: In my personal opinion, I am not opposed to an alliance with Comintern. To be honest, it would probably allow anyone in the U.B.A. to grow MUCH faster than otherwise possible, because they would (hopefully) drop some aid on our smaller nations that we can't quite get dropped yet because we are still so new. Our standing as a whole would shift more from fully African alliance members to a truly worldwide alliance (with just over 1/3 being in Africa). Of course we might get taken into a war, but really it's up to Bd. I'd say have a poll.

I'd be okay with it if we were equally represented and the name was changed, I guess.

The person supporting regenerating health, when asked why you can see when shot in the eye justified it as 'you put on an eyepatch'. When asked what happens when you are then shot in the other eye, he said that you put an eyepatch on that eye. When asked how you'd be able to see, he said that your first eye would have healed by then.
