Aw, I'm dead. And thus ends the life of the great poet...I'm pretty sure that's not how my English teacher described it, though.

And there goes the last hopes of Blake protecting Annie as they escaped the jungle.

((1. Would that even work at this stage scapheap?
2. Is it worth prolonging the game when clearly its going to end whether or not I do anything?  I can try to prolong it, but lemon may not like it.  Hey lemon10, should I just finish up already?  I can already see that you are.))
1) It wouldn't work. If there was *something* living you were trying to convince, or you were trying to gain a bonus for your next roll (by psycing yourself up) or you had a roll penalty because of depression, you could get a bonus. But by scapheap's logic you could use your ability as a +1 for anything.
2) If you survive this situation then the game will end, and your fate will be unknown. There is the possibility that if I do something else in the jungle then you would still be alive. That said, try to survive as hard as you want, because at this point the situation is really pure luck, and I won't just kill you off.
I think actually that I will just put your actions together in the last turn till you escape or die, since I don't think that there is much chance of you saying anything besides "try to get out of the lake".

Yup, bad luck there (that -150 HP on the last turn was just brutal). There wasn't really much hope after you got separated though, since she was too far away for you to possibly get to her in 1 turn.
EDIT:
Quote from: Wikipedia
On the day of his death, Blake worked relentlessly on his Dante series. Eventually, it is reported, he ceased working and turned to his wife, who was in tears by his bedside. Beholding her, Blake is said to have cried, "Stay Kate! Keep just as you are – I will draw your portrait – for you have ever been an angel to me." Having completed this portrait (now lost), Blake laid down his tools and began to sing hymns and verses.[49] At six that evening, after promising his wife that he would be with her always, Blake died. Gilchrist reports that a female lodger in the house, present at his expiration, said, "I have been at the death, not of a man, but of a blessed angel."[50]
That is actually one of the most amazing deaths I have ever heard of.
EDIT2: But yeah, its a lie though, because we both know that he died in Siam eaten by army ants.

Turn 20: Fin
[3-3] Annie can’t keep above the water, and although she struggles for long moments, she slips below again, and the surface gets farther and farther away, and her lungs fill with water. She hangs on by just a thread her life stubbornly remaining.
[-5 HP from bleeding]
[-45 HP]
[Famished->Starving]
[Drowning changed]
[1-4-1] Annie slips further down into the lake, her body never to leave the waters of the lake.
[-5 HP]
[Drowning changed]

The Tiger continues along the path. It is over a hour later when he finds out (to his dismay), that its chosen target was already dead. Luckily, although it seems that the human somehow foolishly lost his head, the rest of his body (including his heart) was intact. How Lucky for it. It haunches down, and rips the still beating burning heart out of the human’s body. As The Tiger chews, a chance comes over it, and it is no longer just a Tiger. It has become something more, something perfect.

So, I have no clue how many people have been reading this up to the end, so if you *have* been reading it, a post after this would be much appreciated so I have some kind of idea.

This is also the second RTD I have done, and the first I have finished (at 22,946 words including player summaries and other repeated stuff). And now its over.
Since I am excited to move onto another RTD the OP for my next one will be up tomorrow at some point.

Interesting way of ending it.  I enjoyed the whole thing.  I think I actually have a couple quotes on my Fanfiction profile.

((Good run, and Annie's death was the peaceful one I wanted it to be.  It would have sucked to be ripped into shreds by the tiger on an unlucky roll just after crawling out from the lake.  I may have even had the calmest death in the game. <3

So now that the Tyger is like a god or something, what now?  I can't wait to play whatever new game you make.))

I've been casually observing this thread amongst several others. Only checking on it every three or four turns. Interesting, but not really my thing. I didn't like the way all actions had roughly equal odds of success, including "do nothing" actions. if my action is "don't trip over my own feet" I think I should be more likely to succeed than if my action is "throw my pistol in the air and backflip my way across the room, catching it at the end and fireing out the window at a bird perched in the tree outside." I felt like the RNG had too much control of the game. Very good writing though.

The artwork relates to the encasing of the HMRC in metal by Pancaek during the Mission of Many People.))

Agreed. Although that's one of the flaws of the basic RtD system.

The RtD system works best when some judgment on the GM's part is applied to it, and you most certainly shouldn't roll for everything, particularly when you are in what might be considered a safe zone.

Also, to lessen randomness, you might want to roll 2d6 and divide by two for out-of-combat actions, GM. That way, you'll get less silly and irritating results most of the time.

Still, all that being said, you have visibly improved as a GM since your first game, and this was interesting, if mildly frustrating to read. You might want to tone down the difficulty for the next game, though. And assume that players will immediately scatter to the four winds, because that's what RtD players do.

Disagreed. The 1's and 6's are what make RtD so hilarious.

Yeah, I really wanted to give people bonuses for safe actions, and give penalties for stupid/impossible ones (note that there is a difference between crazy and stupid). But I had already set the rules for the game, and I really didn't want my arbitrary judgments to get in the way.  I especially didn't want people to get annoyed because of an unannounced -1 for doing something stupid  (which while justified might have annoyed people).

That will be fixed in my next game, players won't be able to be harmed if they don't try to do something dangerous/go somewhere dangerous/do something highly skilled.
Its also nice to know that I did better then my first game.

If you had climbed out of the lake you would have survived until the next game of this was run (if that ever happened).
