The shovel is better than digging with bare hands, isn't it?

I agree, but if we only have to get through a foot or two of sand to hit rock, I'd say it isn't worth the resources.

Build some automated mining/digging bot if too expensive. Build some type of permanent light source, that generates other permanent light sources by breaking off a piece of the main permanent light source.

So, before I write up the next turn, are you guys Vetoing the shovel? It seemed like there was some discontent with it.

Check to see if we can reach Bedrock without it. If we need it, we make it. Otherwise why waste stuff on it?

The women are instructed that for the good of the colony, they would need to bed with the Gnoll. They grimace, but accept after some convincing. The Gnoll seems happy, anyway.
No need to worry, I am sure Mr. Scraggle will fill a special place in their hearts soon enough. Or so I would hope at least.
I'm more worried about the, how to put this politely, structural integrity of the women's abdominal region during conception, pregnancy, and birth.

For now getting some construction going like GWG is advocating, seems to be pretty much the only constructive thing we could do.
Pun intended?

Should we really experience a severe mithril shortage in the future, we can always melt it down again. For now it seems like a very plausible tool to have.

So, No Veto I guess. At least from me.

Edit @ GWG - Nope, don't even see it. Unless you mean the construction / constructive combo. Which also would be a nope.

Well Gnolls clearly exist, and I think the Gnome Females would have put up more of a fight if birthing one is a known death sentence.

I'm pretty sure that "gnoll" was here referring to a troll working for gnolls.
And hey, I worry.

Actually no. It is quite literally a Troll Birthed from a Gnome... Or vice versa. Gnome DNA is recessive, meaning unless the mother and father are both Gnomes, it's more likely to be the other race.

Oh.

...Good to know. Also, race is evidently a trait determined by a single gene. Probably easier that way.

We could go into mixing of DNA, but for simplicity, DNA is dominant and Recessive.

Ooh, the possibilities of multi-racialism. As I see it, the gnomes could be the race to unite them all. Well, the living ones, that is.

Quote from: Orcish-Gnomish Peace Treaty-Council
"Indeed, High-Warlord Grok'ugh-talhagh, It seems that these are very viable terms for both of our sides. All that would be left now is the blood-pact. Standard Procedure, you see."

The Orc awnsers with a short grunt and a nod. He is about to ready his knive, obviously trying to draw blood from his own hand, when he is however interrupted by the Gnome;

"Oh dear, wait, no! Not this kind of blood-pact. I am very sorry, I really should have explained beforehand. What I meant was a gnomish bloodpact....."

Hey. We already got a freaking troll - nothing should shock those gnomes anymore, right? Thou seriously, if the gnomes handle that "perk" the right way, there is much power to be had. Specialists for every job, straight out of your own lines. And - as I would have read it - quite a bit smarter than the "original" version too!

Lal'Ren grabbed yet another Piece of wood and Bar of Mythril, and returned the to the furnace again. He repeated the smelting process again, but this time creates a Crude Mythril Shovel. He grabs the shovel and the pickaxe, instructs Indiana Gnomes, Sham'Yek and the Gnoll to come along. The Gnoll grabs the remainder of the wood to use as structure for the tunnels. The group walks off towards the original hole they fell into, and digs out a nice incline so they can easily get in and out. Sham'Yek collects a bit of the black sand (which is quite sticky) and puts it in his pocket for later. The three of them begin digging a slanted tunnel just big enough for the Gnoll to squeeze into. They dug for perhaps fifty meters before the sand solidified and became rock. They back tracked, making sure they structures they had in place were still standing before exiting the tunnel, eager to figure out what the substance is.

Meanwhile, Back at camp, One of the few Gnomes considers a few more complex machines. He buffs out the plans for a mining machine, but fears that it could cause tunnel collapse in the light sand. Frustrated, he instead tries to figure out an infinite light source, but such a thing could only be accomplished with the use of magic, and as far as he knew, no one in the group had any magic ability.

Outside, the sandstorm seems to finally be dying down a little, but it is still too rough to spend too much time in.
