Channeling through semi-molten rock?

I dont know if people have done this, but I find a way to channeling down multiple SMR layer without constructions with one suicidal miner.

According to the wiki, one needs cave-ins to destroy the unusable ramp, magma to melt whatever is left and water to take care of the magma.  It takes quite a while to breached multiple layers. I didnt try that but I managed to simply channel to the underworld.

The idea is that dwarfs can channel unrevealed blocks by one tile. If a dwarf happens to be on the unusable ramp, he can channel one layer down (unrevealed), destroying the ramp he was on and creating a new one underneath. Since magma flow does not support nor melt a dwarf, he will fall on the new ramp and continue the process. This can be applied to multiple layers until you channel into open space.

So how to get the dwarf on the ramp in the first place? Before reading the wiki, I thought there would be an entrance of some sort around SMR, so I designated the entire layer (of rock just above SMR) for channeling. One of my five miners somehow happened to be on the unusable ramp and bingo, highway to fun. Presumably, that dwarf fell on the ramp as the other miners channeled his tile.

This method leaves magma flow on every layer on the tunnel. I suppose you can pour water in but I havent done it yet.

This is (was) my first surviving fortress so I might have done something wrong. If possible, by all means test this method. I suppose one can reproduce the result by either designating every tile for channeling with several miners as I did or place a dwarf with a pick in a one-tile burrow and let others channel the tile.

Yep, this works. I could see it being useful if you wanted to access the underworld without unleashing the clowns, although I haven't tested this personally.
