When you don't say anything, he just wanders back off. So you begin pulling wreckage out, finding most of it rusted in the worst places, and some of it rather useless in general. This is all irrelevant with enough heat, and your new focus should help plenty with that. First, you find a box. Then you put that box in a larger box, this one less rusty. Again with the boxes, until you think you have enough layers of scrap to hold the soon to be molten scrap for long enough to move it.

But first before there is any melting, you remove everything unnessesary from the Robutt, including the butt. The parts are used to make a makeshift frame for what looks vaguely lizard-like, and then you begin to pile up metals inside the boxes and melt them. A few explode from too much heat at once, but not enough to cause major trouble. While it was all melting, you have an idea, and start tearing out various gadgetry from the Robo Frame, rewiring it, heat-proofing it just in case it works. Next, you manage to keep the molten metal from falling on the ground as it comes out onto the frame and its newly reconfigured workings. Eventually you run out of melted scrap, but the Flare Beast is completed. Now it just needs to cool off before testing the new system which, if it works, should be much more useful than the flamethrower the Robutt had, though it needs the focus connected to work.

You feel rather cold as the last of the Overheat levels wear off from earlier and the fact that you've been hauling around snow-clad metals sets in. The junkyard guy shouts impressed things at you from his shack, and hurls a lantern in your general direction.

The sun has set.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Welp, time to go home. Tomorrow we will attend a Alchemy lecture and reach novice level.

Or you could go find someone to teach you instead, if you want to go exploring.

After waiting for our Flare Beast to cool stick up the nearest non-academy place where you might find magic Tomes.

I'd update more often, but I keep being distracted by starbound and important december things. Anyway...

You pick up the lantern, light whatever is inside it, and walk back over to the new Flare Beast and climb in. You attach the pyrocitor, and with a bit of encouragement, the device realigns slightly and bursts forth with a fireball, which melts a fairly distant pile of metal into slag. You take the pyrocitor back out and attach it to yourself again, and leave town to the north.

Dex is a town of many books. Most of them are silly, redundant, or or in some other way bookish, but some of them arcane and some of them explosive. The known explosive ones are locked in the town vault, to prevent thievery or property damage. Mostly the latter. The library is somewhat bigger than the town hall, but otherwise it has mostly the same sort of buildings as before, inns and shops of somekind. The guards are rather alarmed about a giant metal non-book contraption wandering nearby.

I know we should go to the library, I just haven't had any particularly good ideas for how to describe it recently.

You walk over to the Library of Dex, which is possibly the biggest building you've seen made out of something other than masonry and other sensible materials. The Library of Dex is built entirely out of metalbound books, except for the doors, which are just wood. Inside, there is obviouly books. Books in the wall with titled engraved upon them. Books on the wall, with normal bindings. Books large enough to have their own supports. Books in piles, books in stacks, books falling on people. Theres a book in a corner trying to eat people, guarded by two men with metalbound books of such massiveness you could probably use then as a portable battering ram if you swung it well. While the rest of the inside is more or less undamaged, that corner wall is almost wreckage and ripped pages.

Near you and the door is a sign. It reads 'Librarians are not responsible for any injuries of the light, medium, grievous, or lethal kinds sustained by such foolish acts like trying to pull a book out of the ceiling directly above you or book-based pillow fights, nor is it responsible for the Gnawing Bookish Thing. A wizard did that and it is contained by the threat of deadly crushing force upon it on display nearby, both in the literal sense the guards pose and the ruinous state the corner behind has acquired. Complaining about an injury not serious enough to count as any of the above will get you laughed at.' Other than that, it reminds you of the academy library, but without the cramped space between bookcases and loud shenanigans going on outside it.

Its a giant library. And you guys are being the most vaguest. If you aren't more specific I'm just going to pick the first book title I can think of, in this case The Art of Book Grabbing. :P
