You turn to the others and try to talk them into helping you aide the guards. You explain your idea about trying to use the dropped weapons as improvised explosives or rigging them up as traps. The Doctors look sckeptical.
"Do you even know how to do that, Figs?" Asks Dr Sweetland
"She's right. If you dont know how to do that, you could end up overloading the micro-reactors. Or you could accidentally shoot yourself" Professor Delver added.
As you try to put your point across again, you cant help but notice that the launch countdown has reached zero on the shuttles control panel. You whip around, looking out the side window as the guards, noticing the shuttle moving off, run through a door at the other side of the room.
Next to the door is a sign you hadn't noticed before stating 'Bastion 1'. You assume that means a fortified point. The Aliens, now seriously depleted, retreat, dragging their wounded behind them. You admire the skill of the guards at holding their own massively outnumbered.
The shuttle starts off slowly, but rapidly picks up speed until it is traveling so fast you start to feel nauseous. Just after you start to think that the tunnel is never ending, you are shot out into space at high velocity. Automatically, the shuttle corrects its course until it is part of a swarm of shuttles heading directly towards a huge warship, bristling with weapons and leading its own small formation.
You look out the side window, hoping to admire the view of the system. With a glance, you have to stifle a gasp. As far as you can see, there are warships of all sizes and classes, of both Vanguard's navy and the Unknown forces, as far as the eye can see, locked in vicious combat. Space fighters and bombers whiz by, dodging around debris and destroyed craft. Energy weapons light up the system. Fires on the ships plume out into the void, using the oxygen from the ships as fuel.
Its a sight of true hell.
As you get closer to the Vanguard warship, to compound the horror outside the shuttle, a dead human body bumps against the front window. You shudder. You start to pull closer to the Vanguard warship. You see its name, VMN ARBITER, standing proud from the hull. Almost safe You think to yourself. The armoured docking bay doors open, allowing the swarm of shuttles on board as patrols of space fighters guard your approach.
Eventually, your shuttle sets down, one of the last. The bay doors close, and the shuttle opens.
What do you do now? (You do actually have a lot of things you could do on such a large ship).
((OOC: Sorry for the lack of updates. Finding and job, interviews and the like have been taking my time up like nobodies business. Couple that with fantastic sun-bathing weather here in Britain and the new release of the De Bello Mundi ancient era total conversion mod for Medieval 2 Total War and i haven't had much time to think about updates.
As it stands, this updates seems a bit off to me. I apologise if quality and story flow is lower than usual.
