The memories are lies. Do not believe them. They are implanted by evil people. They may seem real, but there will always be a part of your brain that will resist this vile manipulation of your senses.

Don't tell them that, though. They are your enemy. Tell them you are fine and that you remember them. Must have been something that's gone haywire in your brain.

Still, this whole military thing was voluntary, right? You don't have to stay with them, do you?

^Agreed, I find it funny that their not in much of a rush anymore even though they are still in a combat zone.

((OOC: I would advise against trying to get out of the military. Unless you want this to become 'You Are a Sci-Fi Surgeon' (which would be unbelievably boring) I'd stick with joining the military. Please note: The main protagonist does not have any military skills at the moment. She has only had the standard civilian combat training (which isn't really much other than basic marksmen and self defence training...)))

You try to disbelieve your memories. You put all your brain power into it, but, although you try your hardest, you cannot seem to find anything that is wrong with the memories. They are yours. They fit with the fragments you had just a while ago. You try multiple times, with similar results.

You think that this is something that can wait until later, however.

You smile at Maria Sweetland. "Of course i remember you, silly. We've been friends for decades." You can see the happiness in her eyes. She hugs you, pressing herself against you. You can feel her entire body relax. You remember that your relationship was very, very close with this woman, whilst your relationship with the other three was close, but still friends.

"It must have been something that had gone haywire with the tech" You say to the now relieved doctors, who are patting each other on the back for a job well done.

The gunfire and sounds of battle seem to be getting closer. The stations is now getting physically shaken by the violence. The guards turn to your group and motion for you to follow.

"We need to got you to the evacuation stations, or else you will be caught up in the fighting. Follow us and keep close."

They start moving through the hallways after waiting for you to get dressed. You throw on your clothes and the group makes it through the station at a good speed. You pass rushing groups of soldiers who are heading to various breaches and enemy attacks. Eventually you get to an evacuation station, one with only a few escape shuttles left.

As you enter the shuttle bay, you instantly see groups of dead lying in rows, people who had been wounded in the fighting, but had succumbed to their wounds before they could be evacuated. Some shuttles are destroyed and you do see some alien and guard bodies. Other than the dead, there is no one there.

The Guards who accompanied you are instantly on guard, checking and securing the exits. As the guards are checking the area, one of them tells your group to take a shuttle to the VMN Arbiter, a Vanguard Heavy Cruiser, to complete your evacuation.

You follow the Doctors into one of the undamaged shuttles, there being more than enough space for your little group, and set off. Once the launch sequence starts counting down, a group of alien troops comes charging into the shuttle bay. The two guards are not taken by surprise however and open fire with their rifles into the group, taking cover as they do so behind debris and unused shuttles.

Several aliens go down, but about 5 remain.

The guards are outnumbered, and there are weapons lying about on the floor. You think about rushing to help them, although you dont know if the launch sequence can be delayed.

What do you do?

((How about You Are A Crazy Outlaw Sci-Fi Surgeon?))

Don't be silly. Of course the memories seem authentic. They were implanted into your brain! The very instrument you utilize to analyze things with! You must realize that your brain is working actively against you to find faces in the clouds and provide context to explain its alterations. Do not trust your brain. And do not trust the doctors. Most of all, don't trust this two-bit military outfit.

Also, screw the guards and to hell with team spirit. Let the mooks perish. If possible without putting oneself in danger of missing your flight, steal some of the weapons lying around on the ground. For personal safety.

-1 to leaving we don't even know how to fly a shuttle, I say we stick with the group. There are lot of weapons around maybe we can use them as a IED then retreat back while those aliens try to follow and they get face full shrapnel.

Ask how to overload those weapons to explode, and tell them your plan.

You turn to the others and try to talk them into helping you aide the guards. You explain your idea about trying to use the dropped weapons as improvised explosives or rigging them up as traps. The Doctors look sckeptical.

"Do you even know how to do that, Figs?" Asks Dr Sweetland

"She's right. If you dont know how to do that, you could end up overloading the micro-reactors. Or you could accidentally shoot yourself" Professor Delver added.

As you try to put your point across again, you cant help but notice that the launch countdown has reached zero on the shuttles control panel. You whip around, looking out the side window as the guards, noticing the shuttle moving off, run through a door at the other side of the room.

Next to the door is a sign you hadn't noticed before stating 'Bastion 1'. You assume that means a fortified point. The Aliens, now seriously depleted, retreat, dragging their wounded behind them. You admire the skill of the guards at holding their own massively outnumbered.

The shuttle starts off slowly, but rapidly picks up speed until it is traveling so fast you start to feel nauseous. Just after you start to think that the tunnel is never ending, you are shot out into space at high velocity. Automatically, the shuttle corrects its course until it is part of a swarm of shuttles heading directly towards a huge warship, bristling with weapons and leading its own small formation.

You look out the side window, hoping to admire the view of the system. With a glance, you have to stifle a gasp. As far as you can see, there are warships of all sizes and classes, of both Vanguard's navy and the Unknown forces, as far as the eye can see, locked in vicious combat. Space fighters and bombers whiz by, dodging around debris and destroyed craft. Energy weapons light up the system. Fires on the ships plume out into the void, using the oxygen from the ships as fuel.

Its a sight of true hell.

As you get closer to the Vanguard warship, to compound the horror outside the shuttle, a dead human body bumps against the front window. You shudder. You start to pull closer to the Vanguard warship. You see its name, VMN ARBITER, standing proud from the hull. Almost safe You think to yourself. The armoured docking bay doors open, allowing the swarm of shuttles on board as patrols of space fighters guard your approach.

Eventually, your shuttle sets down, one of the last. The bay doors close, and the shuttle opens.

What do you do now? (You do actually have a lot of things you could do on such a large ship).

((OOC: Sorry for the lack of updates. Finding and job, interviews and the like have been taking my time up like nobodies business. Couple that with fantastic sun-bathing weather here in Britain and the new release of the De Bello Mundi ancient era total conversion mod for Medieval 2 Total War and i haven't had much time to think about updates.

As it stands, this updates seems a bit off to me. I apologise if quality and story flow is lower than usual.

Try to find out how to fly a space fighter and how to use a gun.

Don't do this. We should play to our strengths and be a medic if we can't leave. Instead, locate the medbay and common room, plus any other amenities.

Get to know everybody better too. Maybe, we could find some gap in our memory that doesn't match theirs.
