'There is nothing to catch in the  northern swamps.'

I get this announcement every now and again and I have no idea what it means.

Does anyone else? Or is it just some vestigial leftover from an old version that hasn't been removed yet?

I've been getting the same only it's the Southern Swamps.

I assumed it was something to do with there being no fish left in somewhere a fisherdwarf was trying to catch them, but they do still seem to be able to catch more fish after getting the message, so I don't know.

If overfished, small lakes will run out of turtles. The same thing happens with brooks, giving you a similar message when it runs out of fish. This has been around since 2d.

Actually don't think of it as "Overfished" you can eliminate your fish population with a single fisherdwarf no matter what your source is (Well maybe the Ocean is a bit more pernament)

Think of it as reaching the fish limit.

Running out of fish is only temporary, I think they come back when the season changes.

Well, yeah. Usually they do. In all my fortresses I have ever fished in since this version(.38c), there would be no fish in ponds/ pools / channels in winter, only in the brook. They do come back in spring. But there have been occurances indeed of permanent extinction. Experienced it twice myself now.

I'd occasionally find myself informed that there's nothing to catch in the magma pipe.  Anyone ever fish out a fire snake or something?
