How much adachrite are we talking about? The vehicle I used to get here had a decent amount, enough for getting here and change, and I got a bit more out of a pair of raider bikes that chased after me. No idea how much change from the car, though. I don't hardly remember what adachrite even is, but surely it's much more valuable than these tokens that I got after I was ejected from the pod.

Also, what's the stuff in these syringes? It might be worth something too.

Your ally pulls a teal crystal from his pocket. "Adachrite. The stuff that fuels the world. It's the whole reason we're on this planet in the first place, to mine the stuff for earth. At least, that was the reason, before the gate died. This stuff'll buy you pretty much anything you want 'round these parts. Guns, manpower, vehicles. If you got enough of it. The tokens are used to get rations and stuff from dispensaries, so you can buy stuff with those as well. You can also exchange ada for tokens, if you want. One ounce for ten tokens."

He looks at your supplies. "The clear stuff is acclimation serum. Careful with it, you can get addicted. You can get a syringe full at the dispensaries for 5 tokens. That other stuff you got is Motax. Metabolism Accelerator. It'll heal you up quick, mendin' your wounds quickly. Won't fix broken bones or nothin', but it'll fix cuts and bullet wounds just fine."

Like I said, how much of the stuff are we talking to convince some people that we mean business going after the Ace? And what about acquiring more, anything you know we could do?

While I hate to leave our buddies with them for any amount of time, we're of no use to our friends if we get ourselves killed or captured while trying to get them out. If we're going to do this and succeed, we need to do it right.

"Five ounces will buy most mercs for a week of protection. You can get a decent squad for one job for twenty-five ounces. Though it really depends on the job. But that's only if they say the risk is 'acceptable'. You might need to do some convincin' to get people to go after a bunch of cysts. We can also go to J-7 and check out the guilds. They charge a lot, but they're usually well armed and good at killin'.

"There are a couple things mercs like us could do do get some cash. We could hire ourselves out as mercs for a steady payroll. Protecting caravans, clearing out raiders, bug stompin', all stuff we used to do. Or we could hit up the bounty board. I guess we could go scavengin' for loot, but that's a tricky business. We could also join a guild, but they take out a percentage and tie us up with contracts. There's also honest work, but it's not my preference..."

How much time do you think we have? Any chance those cysts will keep our friends alive long enough to scrape together a rescue? Do you have any ada?

((How much ada do we have?))

"I don't know... I think they captured them for a reason, but I don't know what for. Otherwise, they'd have just off'd 'em. They might be using them for slave labour.

"I have 20 ounces to my name, and two dozen tokens."

You have 12 ounces, under cash.

((I dunno what we should do. Obviously we need help. Either from the Guilds or some decent mercs. We might even be able to handle it on our own if we could sneak hard enough.))

Oh goddamnit you guys, I'm still reading, but it looks like you just plain left the smg in the locker?! Look at the inventory before moving on ffs!

Btw, you'd have wanted to inject a vein, not an artery.

-edit
Ha, seems we have a forgiving GM.

Hmm, if we're going to be fighting borgs, (particularly a titan borg), we'll need at least one heavy weapon- some kind of rpg or an anti-material rifle. If we can get enough to buy one of those and enough ammo, we might be able to pull it off with one team- (probably take double normal expense though).

Perhaps we can entice more of the guildies by offering percentages of the loot as well. Anyway, we'll need more moolah. Check the board for something risky/rewarding/fast.

Unless we want to sneak in & sneak out, which is just the teensiest bit more dangerous than amassing a squad, but would probably be the best option for saving our friends before bad stuff happens, and is also in line with standard plot-armored protagonist behavior.

'As far as these augs go, what kinds of abilities can we expect to run into? Thermal imaging? Motion sensors? Chainguns?'

Well, I've got 12 ada on me and another two dozen tokens. I know that the raiders are decently soft targets, at least the ones that the group sent to recover a vehicle, when taken by surprise.

So, if there's any jobs about taking the raiders out, I'm in on that.

"I dunno... I've heard that the Clubs has a shotgun for a hand, and laser eyes. But I've also heard he eats metal and shits ada, so take that for what it's worth.

"I don't run into many cysts, but usually they have armour under their skin, nanites in their blood, an artificial arms or legs... They're just overall tougher than your average sod."

"Sure, let's check out the bounties at the guard station. Maybe a group's gotta price." With that, he leads you out of Rey's and down to the station. Before you get there, you run into that guard from before... What was his name?

"Hey, catch!" He tosses you a key, which you deftly swipe out of the air. "You comin' to the station?"

"Yeah, lookin' for bounties on raiders. Maybe a clear job."

"What, just you two?"

"Yeah, we can handle a few raiders," Bud replies with confidence.

"Eh, alright, if you say so..." The guard leads you back to the station, where a board is posted outside. "This one was posted today, by Cog." He points to a paper posted in the top corner.

'Raider's have taken my scrapyard... Again. I think it's the same fuckers from before. 2 ada for each bitch you cull. 8 for each pair of hands you get me without killing them. There's eight of the fuckers. Come to my shop if you want my money. -Cog'

"Cog always cracks me up," Bud says. "Here's this one..."

'I want Green Gal and Morty dead. I don't care how, just kill them. They're holed up in Newinstalk. Bring me their heads and you get 15 oz. for each. xoxo Mitch'

"Fat chance. You'll have to clear out, like, 20 raiders just to get to Gal and Mort."

"And there's this one..."

'Target: Crip. Location: Spider Hole. Reward: 50 ounce. -Captain Blackjack'

"The captain's likely to kiss you if you bring him Crip's crown."

"I already won his heart back when I lured Bad Bruce to him."

"Yeah, he sure was happy when that horde of raiders chased you to the wall. He loved the way you got three of the guards killed."

"Don't forget the love letter."

"The fine? Yeah, he's one romantic man."

More questions for bud: How long ago was the job that got everyone capped? Was there anything out of the ordinary? (go over the job in a bit more detail)

What do you fellows think: Try and get a silencer & some grenades, sneak in solo/with bud, or spend time gathering support? If the former, we should make a scouting trip and see what kind of a facility we're going to be trying to infiltrate.

"It was... two weeks ago? About two weeks after you got shot."

"Like I said, we were east of Jolly, doin' a job for... uh, someone named Goldie. Just a quick clean, wipe out a nest of raiders. But... after we wiped the floor with them, about six or seven cyst gangers jumped us. Banner got shot, and we were out of Motax, so Pat stayed and guarded him. Ice was keeping his distance, but two guys got 'em. I knew they were trying to cap us alive, so I got out of there before they could get me. Some of them had club tattoos, so I know it was him."

Yeah, going alone sounds insufficient now that we know more about the borgs. Plus we've got time to gather enough people so that we can really roll up the carpet on these guys.

Let's do the scrapyard job. Can we get there quick without needing the car?

It might be the botched brain upload talking, but I have the strangest and strongest premonition that if we do the scrapyard job, I'll find a battle-hardened but friendly and loyal dog, in need of someone like me to roll with.

"The scrapyard job seems like a good option. How far away is it? Walking distance?" you say.

"Yeah, I think so, too. We can walk there. Only a few kilometres away. No point in burning any ada to get there. Did you wanna go for the hands, or just kill 'em?"
